Redhawks Trek to Little Rock for Road Test Saturday Afternoon
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (8-5, 1-0 OVC) will travel to Little Rock, Arkansas to take on Little Rock (5-7, 0-0 OVC) for the first road conference matchup of the season on Saturday, September 27. First serve is slated for 2 p.m., CT. from the Jack Stephens Center.Â

The Redhawks and Trojans will meet for the seventh time on Saturday afternoon since Little Rock joined the Ohio Valley Conference. In those matches, the Redhawks hold a 5-1 record against LR. Overall, SEMO holds a 6-2 record against LR dating back to 2011. The last meeting between the two came a season ago in Little Rock in a match that saw SEMO win in five sets (3-2).Â

OVC Defensive Player of Week

Nina Schuberth was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Schuberth, the reigning OVC 'Defensive Player of the Year', concluded the weekend with an impressive 57 digs over the three matches at the Missouri Challenge in St. Louis, Mo.Â

She recorded 20+ kills in two-of-three matches this past weekend, including a season-high 27 digs against Saint Louis (9/20) on Saturday afternoon. She finished the weekend with a .960 reception percentage and had a perfect 1.000 against SLU. This season, Nina has recorded 166 digs over 12 matches. She is averaging 3.53 digs-per-set which ranks her eighth in the OVC. She has an overall reception percentage of .935 and has three matches this season with a 1.000 reception mark. For Schuberth, the award marks the first of her season and she is the second Redhawk to garner the weekly status.

SEMO Volleyball began its 2025 Ohio Valley Conference slate on Wednesday evening in style as they routed UT Martin by a final score of 3-0. The Redhawks won by scores of 25-9, 25-18, 25-16 to secure the first victory of conference play. Junior
Lucy Arndt powered the offense with 14 kills on 28 total attempts for an impressive .429 hitting-percentage.Â

Nina Schuberth joined the exclusive 1,000 digs club during Wednesday night's match. The Yorkville, Illinois-native entered the match with 994 career digs before recording six digs in the game's first set. Schuberth now has 1,011 digs and is the second player in a week to join the "1,000" club after teammate
Lucy Arndt recorded her 1,000-career kill last Friday afternoon.Â

Wednesday's match marked the fourth victory of the season for the Redhawks in three sets. Overall, SEMO is 4-3 in matches that finish in three sets. Through 13 matches, the Redhawks have played seven matches that have ended in three sets including wins over Grambling State, Murray State, Kansas City, and UT Martin.Â

Ramiri Gardner had a stellar performance in the opening conference match on Wednesday night. Gardner, a middle blocker from St. Peters, Mo., finished with 10 kills on just 14 attempts for an impressive .714 hitting-percentage. Her hitting-percentage marked a new season best and her 10 kills marked the second time this season she has finished with double-digit kills.Â

Marin Johnson recorded a career-high in solo blocks last night against UT Martin. Johnson, who has 53.0 career total blocks, recorded four solo blocks against the Skyhawks on Wednesday night. This season she has five solo blocks, six block assists, for 11.0 total blocks in 2025.Â

Mackenzie Tucker recorded a pair of kills on Wednesday night against UTM in the opening set. For Tucker, her kills set a new season-high bringing her season total to four kills. She has a season hitting-percentage of .222 in 2025.Â
