Redhawks Open Ohio Valley Conference Play Wednesday Versus UT Martin
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (7-5, 0-0 OVC) will host longtime rival UT Martin (1-10, 0-0 OVC) in the first match of Ohio Valley Conference play in 2025. The Redhawks and Skyhawks will meet on Wednesday, September 24 inside Houck Field House. First serve is slated for 6 p.m., CT. 
 
Series History
Skyhawks
The second 'Battle of the Hawks' this season marks the 96^th time that the Redhawks and Skyhawks have faced each other on the volleyball court. SEMO holds a dominant 72-23 overall record and is currently on a six-match winning streak that dates back all the way to Oct 1, 2022. 
 
Missouri Challenge
The Redhawks wrapped up their final preseason tournament over this past weekend at the Missouri Challenge hosted by Saint Louis in St. Louis, Mo. The Redhawks picked up victories over Kansas City (3-0) and Missouri State (3-2) and concluded the tournament with a loss to Saint Louis (2-3). Outside hitters Lucy Arndt & Marin Johnson each landed on the all-tournament team for the second weekend in a row. 
 
OVC DPOY
Junior libero Nina Schuberth was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Schuberth, the reigning OVC 'Defensive Player of the Year', concluded the weekend with an impressive 57 digs over the three matches at the Missouri Challenge in St. Louis, Mo. 
 
She recorded 20+ kills in two-of-three matches this past weekend, including a season-high 27 digs against Saint Louis (9/20) on Saturday afternoon. She finished the weekend with a .960 reception percentage and had a perfect 1.000 against SLU. This season, Nina has recorded 166 digs over 12 matches. She is averaging 3.53 digs-per-set which ranks her eighth in the OVC. She has an overall reception percentage of .935 and has three matches this season with a 1.000 reception mark. For Schuberth, the award marks the first of her season and she is the second Redhawk to garner the weekly status.
 
1,000 Kills Club
Junior Lucy Arndt surpassed 1,000 career kills in the opening match of the Missouri Challenge against Kansas City. Arndt, who entered the weekend with 991 career kills, finished with 11 kills against the Roos to eclipse the 1,000 mark. She then recorded 23 kills against Missouri State and added 19 more against Saint Louis. She now has 1,044 career kills. 
 
Dig It
Through 12 games this season, SEMO Volleyball ranks near the top of all DI women's volleyball in digs-per-set. The Redhawks average 15.89 DPS which ranks them 30^th in the country for the category. Nina Schuberth paces the club, averaging 3.53 DPS, followed closely by Lucy Arndt with 2.13. 
 
Points
The Redhawks have recorded 740 points this season through 12 matches and 47 sets played. SEMO ranks second in the OVC for points, trailing Morehead State who has played eight less sets (640, 39 sets). The Redhawks are averaging 15.74 points-per-set, led by Lucy Arndt who has 184.5 points this season. She is averaging 3.93 points-per-set. 

Top 20
To go along with her offensive prowess, Lucy Arndt continues to find herself amongst the best in the country in attacks. Arndt ranks 18^th in the country in attacks-per-set, averaging 11.81 this season. She ranks second in the OVC trailing only Ashby Willis of Southern Indiana (11.98). 
 
North of 100
Sophomore Marin Johnson has turned it on over the last two weekends, landing on the 'all-tournament' team in back-to-back weekends. She now joins teammate Lucy Arndt as the only pair of Redhawks over 100 kills this season. Johnson is hitting .247 overall, averaging 2.56 kills-per-set, and has 112.0 points (2.73 PPS). 
 
Defend the Net
The middle blocking trio of Kara Oxenknecht, Alaina Lester, and Ramiri Gardner have provided a strong presence in the middle of the court through non-conference play. The trio has combined for 58 total blocks. On the pins, Katy St. John and Avery Torrey have contributed 19 and 22 total blocks, respectively, as the top five blockers on the squad. SEMO has 77.0 total blocks and are averaging 1.64 blocks-per-set. 
 
Welcome Back, Alaina Lester
Sophomore Alaina Lester returned to the court this past weekend after missing some time due to injury. Lester played In the final two matches of the Missouri Challenge where she played in nine sets, recording 13 kills and 7.0 blocks. The Redhawks' 'Preseason Player to Watch' in the OVC has played in 31 sets this season and is averaging nearly 2.0 points-per-set.

Through 12 matches, the Redhawks have won their matches in either three sets or five sets. SEMO has won three matches in three sets and has four wins in five sets in seven victories this season. The squad has outscored their opponents 1016-999 this season, with the biggest discrepancy coming in the first set with a +14 advantage over their opponent(s). 
 
Attack Leader
Redshirt junior Kara Oxenknecht has the highest attack percentage on the squad through 12 matches. Oxenknecht has 43 total kills on 98 total attacks for a .388 hitting-percentage. She has just five errors on the season and is averaging 1.26 kills-per-set over 34 sets played.
