Redhawks Host Tennessee Tech on Saturday Afternoon
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (4-20, 2-13 OVC) returns to the Show Me Center on Saturday, February 15, to take on OVC leaders Tennessee Tech (19-5, 13-2 OVC). Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m., CT. from the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Golden Eagles met earlier this season in Cookeville, Tennessee on January 16 in a game that saw TTU win by a final score of 79-66. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Golden Eagles over SEMO as TTU holds a 39-23 all-time series lead. 
 
Last Time Out
Most recently, The Redhawks were on the road on Tuesday night at Little Rock in a game that resulted a 60-52 victory for the Trojans in Little Rock, Arkansas. Senior Lexi McCully led all scorers as she finished with a game-high 18 points on 7-13 shooting. McCully finished 3-7 from three and a perfect 1-1 at the free throw line. Center Ainaya Williams recorded double digits as well finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds. 
 
As a team, SEMO shot 33.3-percent from the field (20-60), 25-percent from three (5-20), and a perfect 7-7 at the charity stripe. The Redhawks won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Little Rock by a 39-34 margin. 
 
Zoe Best and Brianna Hill led the Redhawks on the boards, finishing with nine apiece. For Hill, nine rebounds set a new career high.
 
Where We Stand
Nearing the end of the season, SEMO comes into Saturday's matchup tied for 10th in the OVC with SIUE at 2-13. The Redhawks sit a game behind eighth place as Morehead State and Tennessee State are both 3-12 in league play. The Golden Eagles are tied for first place in the league with a 13-2 OVC record, tied with Lindenwood for the top spot in the conference. 
 
All-Time
Center Ainaya Williams has found herself etched in the record books for blocks in a single season. In 21 games played, Williams has totaled 40 blocks on the season including a season-high eight against UT Martin (1/30). She is now tied for eight all-time in SEMO history with Missy Whitney (2007-08) in single-season blocks. 
 
Best in the Record Book
Guard Zoe Best joins fellow freshman Ainaya Williams in the top 10 single season record book for SEMO Women's Basketball in three-pointers made in a season. In 24 games played, Best has tallied 57 made threes tying her for eighth all-time with Ashton Luttrull (17-18). 
 
Another Game, Another Assist
Lexi McCully has played all 24 games so far this season for the Redhawks and has pushed her assist streak to 24-straight games. McCully recorded an assist on Tuesday night at Little Rock bringing her season total to 66. She is averaging 2.8 assists-per-game and ranks 12th in the OVC in APG. 
 
22nd
McCully entered last week as the 25th ranked scorer in the Ohio Valley Conference before three-straight games with 16 or more points. McCully now ranks 22nd in the league in scoring averaging 10.9 PPG. Over the last three, McCully has recorded a career-high 30 points (2/8) and is averaging 21.3 PPG. 
 
Offensive Glass Cleaning
Over the last three games, the Redhawks have shot up the rankings in team offensive rebounds as SEMO checks in at seventh in the OVC after previously ranking 10th. Through 24 games, SEMO has hauled in 257 offensive rebounds and averages 10.7 ORPG. Ainaya Williams leads the Redhawks in offensive rebounding with 42 on the season in just 21 games. 
 
At the Show Me Center
With just three games left, including Saturday, in Cape Girardeau, the Redhawks are currently 3-8 in Cape Girardeau but just 1-6 in league play. SEMO has defeated Southern Illinois, William Woods, and SIUE. The Redhawks last defeated Tennessee Tech at the Show Me Center on February 4, 2021. 
 
Scouting the Opponent
Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles come into Saturday's matchup with a 19-5 overall record and a 13-2 mark in OVC play. Most recently, TTU went to Little Rock and defeated the Trojans by a final score of 61-57. TTU is led by ninth year head coach Kim Rosamond. 
 
On the season, TTU is averaging 70.2 points-per-game led by freshman guard Chloe Larry. Larry is one-of-three Golden Eagles averaging double figures on the season and is averaging 11.5 PPG. Guard Peyton Carter and Keeley Carter follow behind with 11.4 and 11.0 PPG, respectively. 
 
Forward Anna Walker controls the glass for TTU, averaging 6.4 rebounds-per-game over 25.5 minutes-per-game. She also averages 9.6 PPG shooting an impressive 43.1-percent from the field this season.
