Redhawks Host William Woods Tuesday, Return to OVC Play Thursday
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (3-7, 0-2 OVC) will return to action after a 10-day break on Tuesday, December 30 against NAIA-member William Woods (2-10). Tip-off is slated for 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The Redhawks will then return to OVC play two days later to ring in the New Year as Eastern Illinois (1-12, 0-2 OVC) comes to Cape Girardeau on January 1. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m., CT. against the Panthers.

Series History
The Redhawks hold a 4-0 advantage against William Woods since Southeast Missouri became a Division I program (1991). SEMO last hosted WWU a season ago on New Year's Eve in a 102-50 rout of the Owls in Cape Girardeau. Since the 2014 campaign, the Redhawks have not lost to the Owls by less than 15 points in any of the previous four matchups.

EIU
A familiar foe and one of the longest tenured Ohio Valley Conference opponents, the Eastern Illinois Panthers and SEMO Redhawks will meet for the 58th time on the court Thursday evening. The Redhawks cling to a 29-28 series advantage with EIU after the Panthers swept the season series in 2024-25. The Redhawks hold a 17-10 advantage on the matchup in Cape Girardeau and last won in the Show Me State during the 2023-24 season (62-57).

Volunteer Tour
The Redhawks return to action after beginning Ohio Valley Conference play on December 18 at Tennessee Tech and at Tennessee State on December 20. SEMO dropped both contests beginning with a 79-66 loss in Cookeville. Graduate student Raissa Nsabua led the Redhawks at TTU with 15 points on 6-8 shooting. She also dished out three assists, grabbed five rebounds, and went 3-4 at the foul line. Nsabua was one-of-three Redhawks who finished in double-digits.

SEMO got a career-high performance from center Ainaya Williams last Saturday afternoon at Tennessee State. Williams led all scorers with 24 points on 7-14 shooting, and a near-perfect 10-11 at the charity stripe. Sophomore forward Kearra Jones finished with 10 rebounds, marking just the fourth time this season a Redhawk finished with double-digit boards. TSU stole the game in the fourth quarter, securing a 76-72 victory in Nashville.

Long Break Turns to Busy
After a 10-day hiatus from the court, the Redhawks return to action for three-straight home games this week beginning on Tuesday. SEMO will face William Woods (NAIA) in the final non-conference matchup of the season. The Redhawks will then welcome Eastern Illinois (1/1) Thursday night, before hosting Western Illinois (1/3) on Saturday afternoon.

Got Back
Graduate guard Lexi McCully, who leads the Redhawks in scoring, returned to double figures on Saturday afternoon with 12 points against TSU. McCully, who started the year with seven-straight double-digit performances, snapped a two-game streak of less than 10 points. McCully is averaging14.2 PPG through 10 games and has scored 142 points so far in 2025-26.

Career-High Inside
Center Ainaya Williams shattered her career-high in points on Saturday afternoon against TSU. Williams, who scored 24 points against the Tigers, extended her streak of double-digit points to five as she finished 50-percent from the field (7-14) and an impressive 90.9-percent at the free throw line (10-11). She is shooting 76.3-percent from the charity stripe this season and her 10 makes mark a new career-high in a single game.

Points Per Game
Southeast Missouri enters the week ranked fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring as a team. The Redhawks are averaging 70.0 PPG through the season's first 10 games, and trail fourth-place Tennessee Tech by 0.4 PPG (70.4). Eastern Illinois, who the Redhawks host on Thursday evening, rank dead last in the OVC in PPG with 56.0.

Top Five Defense
On the defensive end, the Redhawks have done a great job of defending the basket allowing the fourth lowest field goal percentage for their opponents in the OVC. SEMO is allowing just 37.1-percent to their opponents trailing only Southern Indiana who has the league's lowest allowed percentage (34.0).

Defend the Three
SEMO has made it difficult on its opponents from beyond the three-point line. Through 10 games, the Redhawks rank third in the OVC in opponent three-point field goal percentage at 27.7-percent. The Redhawks have only allowed 53 made three-pointers this season on 191 total attempts.

Getting it Done
Center Ainaya Williams continues to climb the OVC leaderboard in free-throw percentage. After the 2024-25 season, Williams was a 63-percent foul shooter. Through 10 games this season, she has raised her total all the way to 76.3-percent and ranks eighth in the OVC. She has attempted 59 free throws, knocking down 45 of them including tying her career most 11 attempts last Saturday.

Boards Off the Bench
Sophomore Kearra Jones has done a great job of rebounding primarily off the bench for the Redhawks through 10 games. Jones, who ranks third on the squad in total rebounds, is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game off the bench and has hauled in 53 so far this year. Of her 53 rebounds, 16 of them have come on the offensive glass which ranks her third on the team in offensive rebounds.

Let it Fly
Two Redhawks rank in the top 10 in the OVC in three-point field goals per game. The graduate backcourt duo of Carmen Taylor and Lexi McCully rank third and 10th, respectively. Taylor is averaging 2.4 three-pointers per game having made 24 threes through 10 games. McCully is averaging 1.8 three-pointers having knocked down 18 this season.

Among The League's Best
McCully also ranks in the top 10 of the OVC in field goal percentage. Through 10 games, McCully has scored 53 baskets on 131 total attempts for a 40.5-percentage from the field. She ranks 10th in the league in field goal percentage. Lindenwood's Brooke Coffey leads the conference with a 54.6 shooting-percentage from the field.

Floor General
Graduate guard Raissa Nsabau ranks in the top five of the Ohio Valley Conference in assists. Nsabua, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, has dished out 37 total assists in just nine games played this year. She is averaging 4.1 APG and had a career-high 11 assists earlier this season against Missouri State (11/11). In nine games, Nsabua has had at least two assists in every game this season and has a 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
