Volleyball Cruises in Three Sets Wednesday in Regular Season Finale

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Southeast Missouri Volleyball (20-12, 12-6 OVC) secured a decisive 3-0 victory over SIUE (12-17, 7-11 OVC) on Wednesday evening at First Community Arena, with set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-16. The Redhawks posted an impressive .314 hitting percentage, led by consistent offensive performances across all three sets.

The Redhawks ended the 2025 regular season with a 20-12 overall record and a 12-6 record in OVC play. SEMO concluded the regular season on an eight-match winning streak and dropped just two sets over the final eight matches. 

First Set  
- SIUE started strong with kills by Sophie Robinson and Grace Nichols to take a 2-0 lead.  
- Southeast Missouri State tied the score at 2-2, highlighted by a service ace from Lucy Arndt.  
- A 5-0 run by the visitors, including a kill from Arndt and a block by Kara Oxenknecht, pushed the lead to 13-8.  
- The Redhawks closed the set at 25-18 with a kill from Ramiri Gardner.

Second Set  
- Marin Johnson recorded three consecutive kills early in the set, contributing to a 3-1 advantage for Southeast Mo. St.  
- Gardner and Johnson combined for blocks on consecutive plays, extending the lead to 7-3.  
- Vienna Elliott's efforts kept SIUE within striking distance, but Southeast Mo. St. maintained control, leading 11-5.  
- They closed out the set with a series of blocks, securing a 25-16 victory.

Third Set  
- Southeast Missouri opened the set with a quick pace, gaining an early 3-2 advantage with kills from Katherine St. John and Johnson.  
- Oxenknecht and Alandry Below combined for a strong offensive sequence, pushing SEMO ahead 5-2 with a kill and a forced attack error.  
- SIUE's Kennedy Pike responded with impactful kills, but SEMO maintained control, leading 12-9 with contributions from Oxenknecht and Johnson.  
- SEMO's consistent pressure culminated in a 25-16 set victory, sealed by consecutive attack errors from SIUE.

Looking ahead, Southeast Mo. St. will face Ohio Valley Conference at home. The match is set for Saturday, Nov. 22.

Game Notes:  
- The Redhawks locked up a 2025 Ohio Valley Conference berth. SEMO will either be the #4 or #5-seed in the tournament and will face Little Rock in the first round on Sunday, November 23.
