Redhawks Host OVC Leading Morehead State Friday & Saturday
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (12-10, 4-4 OVC) will resume Ohio Valley Conference play as they welcome in Morehead State (14-5, 8-0 OVC) for a weekend series in Cape Girardeau. The matches will take place on Friday, October 24 through Saturday, October 25 beginning at 6 p.m. & 2 p.m., respectively, from Houck Field House.Â

SEMO Volleyball and Morehead State will meet for the 62
nd and 63
rd times in volleyball this weekend. Two of the longest tenured teams in the Ohio Valley Conference, SEMO leads the all-time series by a 37-24 advantage. A season ago, the Redhawks swept the regular season meetings in Morehead, Ky. en route to capturing the 2024 OVC regular season title. The Eagles would get their revenge, downing the Redhawks in the OVC Tournament semifinals.Â

Its Friday Night
Friday night's match is slated for the 'Monster Match' presented by SEMO Athletics. Doors open at 5 p.m. for fans to enjoy a Halloween themed Houck Field House. Dress in your best Halloween costume as there will be trick-or-treating, activities, and more. The best dressed fans will receive a prize.Â

The match will also feature SEMO 'Greek Night' as all fraternity and sorority chapters are invited to Houck Field House to raise money for their respective philanthropies, courtesy of Roni's.Â

Saturday AfternoonÂ
Saturday's match marks the annual SEMO Volleyball Youth Clinic for fans in eighth grade or younger. Following the action on Saturday, kids can join the Redhawks for a FREE youth clinic on the court. It is also Rowdy's Kids Club Day as members are invited to Houck Field House and can enjoy exclusive benefits and experiences throughout the game.Â

Big Crowd
Wednesday night's match featured the largest crowd of the season for the Redhawks this season in Cape Girardeau. SEMO battled Missouri in front of 915 people at Houck Field House, surpassing 2025's previous high of 610 against Iowa (9/11). The all-time attendance record came during the 2014 campaign in a match against Southern Illinois in front of 1,206 fans (9/21/14).Â

Midweek Match
SEMO Volleyball hosted Missouri on Wednesday night at Houck Field House and took the Tigers to the fifth set. The Redhawks won sets two and four to setup the fifth and decisive set. MU eventually took the fifth set with a 15-8 win, sealing the match at 3-2. Sophomore

Katy St. John led the Redhawks with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, as the Redhawks hit .166 on the night.Â

OVC Standings
This weekend marks a pivotal matchup in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Redhawks come into the weekend with a 4-4 record overall in league play which puts them in fifth place in the league. Morehead State leads the league with a perfect 8-0 record and have a two-match lead ahead of Eastern Illinois (6-2) and Little Rock (6-2).Â

The 2025 regular season begins its final 10 regular season contests for SEMO Volleyball beginning with Morehead State. With five OVC series remaining, the Redhawks will face MSU, Tennessee State (Oct. 31-Nov.1), Lindenwood (Nov. 7-8), Western Illinois (Nov. 13-14), and SIUE (Nov. 18-19) to conclude the regular season. Three of the five remaining series will take place inside Houck Field House in MSU, Lindenwood, and Western Illinois.Â

Katy St. John, who is coming off a career weekend, matched her career-high in blocks against Missouri on Wednesday night. St. John tallied 5.0 total blocks marking her second-straight match with 5.0 total blocks. She also recorded a new career-high with three solo blocks against the Tigers.Â

Nobody has played more sets in the Ohio Valley Conference this season than the Redhawks. In 22 matches, the Redhawks have played in 90 total sets, 10 more than the next closest in the league. SEMO ranks fifth in the league in points, scoring 1,437 points, and averaging 15.97 points per set.Â

As an offense, the Redhawks have recorded the most kills in the Ohio Valley Conference. SEMO has tallied 1,119 total kills this season on 3,317 total attacks (league high) and rank third in the league in hitting-percentage (.212).Â

Sophomore setter
Megan Holder leads the club in assists this season with 466 total assists over 86 sets played. Holder, a sophomore from Freeport, Illinois, ranks ninth in the OVC in assists. She is averaging 5.42 assists per set and recorded 29 assists on Wednesday night. Holder has recorded double-digit assists in every match she's played this season.Â

SEMO Volleyball has done a great job this season when their opponents are serving against them. Overall, the Redhawks have only been aced 134 times over 90 sets played, ranking them second in the OVC in opponent service aces. Tennessee State is last in the conference, allowing 190 service aces over 75 sets played.Â

Nina Schuberth, the all-time leader in program history of service aces in a single season, has tallied 33 aces in 2025. She set the record during her freshman season with 49 in 2023. She needs just 16 more aces to match her previous season-high with 10 matches left in the regular season.Â

Through 22 matches, the Redhawks offense is hitting .212 as a team ranking them third in the Ohio Valley Conference. On 3,317 total attacks, the Redhawks have 1,119 kills and just 416 errors and are averaging 12.43 kills per set.
