Redhawks Host Missouri in Midweek Clash Wednesday
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (12-9) will take a pause in Ohio Valley Conference action when they host Missouri (12-7) in midweek action on Wednesday, October 22. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. from Houck Field House. 
 
BIG Night at Houck
SEMO Athletics and SEMO Volleyball have teamed up for a big night at Houck Field House on Wednesday. Wednesday's match marks the 'Volleybrawl' match, the first fans in the building will receive a SEMO Belt Bag courtesy of Window World. Wednesday night also marks 'Peace Love Energy' night. Fans can receive complimentary drinks courtesy of Peace Love Energy. 
 
Finally, Wednesday's match is SEMO Residence Life Night. SEMO Resident Students are invited to Houck Field House to catch the action as the Redhawks take on Missouri. 
 
Series History
Tigers
The Redhawks and Tigers will meet for the second-straight season on the volleyball court, and the 13th all-time meeting between the two programs on Wednesday night. A season ago, SEMO traveled to Columbia, Mo. in a match that saw the Tigers win 3-0. Overall, SEMO trails in the series with a 3-9 overall record. MU travels to Cape Girardeau for the first time since the 1994 season, a match that SEMO won by a final score of 3-2. 
 
This Past Weekend
The Redhawks most recently traveled to Eastern Illinois in Ohio Valley Conference action. SEMO dropped both contests in Charleston in four sets. Freshman outside hitter Katy St. John recorded a career-high 16 kills against the Panthers in Saturday's match, hitting a staggering .500 hitting-percentage with just one error. 
 
OVC Freshman of the Week
Freshman outside hitter Katy St. John was named the Ohio Valley Conference 'Co-Freshman of the Week', the league announced on Monday afternoon. 
 
St. John, a native of Jackson, Mo., recorded her second award of the season on Monday after a standout week including a career-high 16 kills against Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon. 
 
In Saturday's match against EIU, St. John hit a staggering .500 on the afternoon as she recorded her 16 kills on 30 total attacks and registered just one error. She also chipped in a career-high 5.0 total blocks in Saturday's match as she accumulated 18.5 points in the match. 
 
For the week, St. John finished with 28 total kills, 58 total attacks, just five errors, and an overall hitting-percentage of .397. She averaged 2.33 kills-per-set and 2.79 points-per-set over the three-match week. 
 
She totaled 10.0 blocks on the week, averaging 0.83 blocks-per-set, and even chipped in four digs over 12 sets played last week.
 
Ninth in the Country
SEMO Volleyball has been among the nation's best in team assists this season. Of 343 teams in Division I volleyball, SEMO ranks ninth in the country with 1,003 total assists and first in the Ohio Valley Conference. Towson leads all of DI volleyball with 1,092 total assists. 
 
Seventh in the Country
The Redhawks have also been one of the most aggressive teams in the country on offense. Over 21 matches played, SEMO Volleyball has totaled 3,154 total team attacks which ranks them seventh in all of DI volleyball. Junior outside hitter Lucy Arndt leads the club with 994. 
 
Nation's Top Attacker
Arndt's 994 total attacks rank her as the number one player in the country for total attacks. Of 149 players ranked, Arndt tops the charts with her 994 attacks as she leads both the country and the OVC in total attacks. She has a .200 hitting-percentage overall on the season with 306 kills and just 107 errors. 
 
Top 30
Arndt also ranks amongst the nation's best in total kills. The leader of the Ohio Valley Conference, Lucy Arndt's 306 total kills rank her 26th in the country in total kills. Kennedy Louisell of James Madison leads the nation in kills with 398. 
 
Just Keep Digging
As a team, the Redhawks have accumulated 1,411 total digs which is the top mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. SEMO's digs rank them in the top 10 in the country at sixth in total team digs. Libero Nina Schuberth ranks fifth in the OVC in digs-per-set at 4.11 and is second in the OVC with 349. 
 
Defend Houck
So far this season, the Redhawks have defended home court to the tune of a 5-2 overall record in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks have one P4 victory inside Houck Field House coming against Iowa (B1G) earlier this season at the SEMO Invitational with a 3-2 victory over the Hawkeyes. The Redhawks have defeated Iowa, Murray State, UT Martin, Southern Indiana, and Southern Illinois in Cape this season. 
 
Career High Blocks
Katy St. John added another career-high to her stat line on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Illinois. St. John totaled a career-high 5.0 total blocks against EIU with five block assists bringing her total to 36.0 total blocks this season. She is averaging 0.5 blocks per set over 72 sets played in 2025. 
 
Top Blocka
Sophomore Alaina Lester continues to lead the club in blocks. The middle blocker is averaging 0.90 blocks per set over 68 sets played this season. She has six solo blocks, 55 block assists which brings her total to 61.0 blocks on the campaign.
