Volleyball Falls to EIU Friday Night

CHARLESTON, Ill. — Southeast Missouri Volleyball (12-8, 4-3 OVC) fell to Eastern Illinois (10-6, 4-2 OVC) in four-sets Friday from Gardella Family Court. 

First Set  
- Eastern Illinois started strong with a 6-0 run, featuring kills from Destiny Walker and Katie Kopshever.  
- Tori Mohesky contributed back-to-back kills, extending the lead to 9-0 for the Panthers.  
- Southeast Missouri State responded with a kill from Lucy Arndt, narrowing the deficit to 10-2.  
- The Panthers finished the set with a decisive kill from Kopshever, closing it out 25-13.

Second Set  
- The Panthers gained an early advantage with a 7-1 run, highlighted by two kills from Mohesky.  
- Southeast Missouri closed the gap with a 5-0 run, capitalizing on three attack errors from the Panthers.  
- Arndt contributed a series of kills, helping Southeast Missouri tie the score at 24-24.  
- Southeast Missouri clinched the set 27-25, with Avery Torrey's decisive kill and Katherine St. John's block sealing the win.

Third Set  
- Southeast Missouri State opened the set with a kill by Arndt, assisted by Megan Holder.  
- The Panthers surged ahead with a service ace from Nina Schuberth, extending their lead to 2-1.  
- Marin Johnson contributed a kill for Southeast Missouri State, leveling the score at 4-4.  
- The Panthers pulled away late, with Catalina Rochaix assisting multiple kills, including the set-clinching point by Emma Schroeder, closing at 25-21.

Fourth Set  
- Southeast Mo. St. opened with a 2-0 lead, capitalizing on an attack error by the Panthers' Mohesky.  
- The Panthers responded with a service ace by Kopshever, contributing to a 6-4 advantage.  
- SEMO's Arndt recorded a kill to level the score at 8-8, supported by two consecutive bad sets from the Panthers' Rochaix.  
- The set remained tense as the Panthers' Walker delivered back-to-back kills to equalize at 15-15.  
- The Panthers clinched the set 25-23 following an attack error by SEMO's Arndt, securing their victory in the match.
