Soccer Falls Sunday Afternoon

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Southeast Missouri (2-12-1, 2-3-1 OVC) fell to Eastern Ill. (8-4-3, 5-0-1) by a final score of 1-0  on Sunday afternoon at Houck Stadium, with a second-half goal proving decisive.

First Half  
- Zerina Markovic of Southeast Missouri State generated early pressure with a shot on goal in the 3rd minute, saved by Eastern Illinois's Ella Kratochvil.  
- The Redhawks maintained offensive momentum, earning two corner kicks by the 13th minute.  
- Madison Geisler of Southeast Missouri State recorded a crucial save in the 26th minute to deny Ella Onstott of the Panthers.  
- Despite multiple attempts from both teams, the period concluded scoreless.

Second Half  
- Geisler made critical saves on shots from Alex Tetteh and Brooklynn Greene to keep the Redhawks level early in the half.  
- Markovic attempted two shots for Southeast Missouri State, but both failed to find the target.  
- Tetteh broke the deadlock for Eastern Illinois in the 82nd minute, scoring the only goal with Sadie Mueller providing the assist.  
- The Redhawks pressed for an equalizer with late attempts from Hayley Hogenmiller and Cayla Koerner, but couldn't convert.
