Redhawks Return Home Thursday for UT Martin
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (4-15, 2-8 OVC) returns to the Show Me Center on Thursday, January 30, to take on UT Martin (7-14, 4-6 OVC) for the second time this season. Tip-off is slated for 5:15 p.m., CT. in Cape Girardeau. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Skyhawks will meet for the 82^nd time on Thursday evening and the second time this season. UTM leads the overall series by a 48-33 margin after winning the previous matchup by a final score of 85-69 in Martin, Tennessee. The Skyhawks are on a three-game winning streak in the series with SEMO's last win coming on January 19, 2023, by a final score of 56-54 in Cape Girardeau. 
 
Last Time Out
The Redhawks were last in action last Saturday, January 25, at Western Illinois. The Leathernecks won the contest 94-66 in the first meeting between the two in 2024-25. Zoe Best led the Redhawks in scoring with a team-high 16 points on 6-18 shooting, including 4-10 from three-point range. Ainaya Williams was the only other Redhawk to finish in double figures with 13 points. She finished 6-10 from the field and was 1-1 at the charity stripe. 
 
As a team, SEMO shot 25-67 from the field (37.3%), 9-25 (36-percent) from three, and just 50-percent at the foul line (7-14). 
 
Guard Anjelicia Del Valle scored a career-high seven points on Saturday afternoon, finishing 2-6 from the floor. 
 
League Table
Heading into the week, the Redhawks are currently tied for seventh place with SIUE at 2-8 in league play. UTM comes in with a 4-6 record in league play and sit just above the Redhawks, tied with Western Illinois in fifth place. Eastern Illinois is first place in the league with a perfect 10-0 record.

Guard Zoe Best currently ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring over the first 19 games of the season. Best currently averages 14.7 points-per-game and has scored 279 points for the Redhawks this year. She has scored 99 field goals, 49 three-pointers, and 32 free throws thus far. 
 
Swiped
Sophomore Indiya Bowen leads the Redhawks on the defensive end in steals. The Horn Lake, Mississippi-native has recorded 36 steals on the season and has recorded a steal in three-straight games. She recorded a season-high five steals against Indiana State (11/30). She ranks sixth in the OVC in steals, averaging 2.1 steals-per-game. 
 
Point Guard
Senior Lexi McCully has been thrust into a point guard role for the Redhawks this season and has done a great job of facilitating the basketball. McCully, who has a team-high 54 assists on the season, ranks 11^th in the OVC in assists. She has recorded an assist in every game this season, including a season-high eight against William Woods (12/31). In 19 games, McCully averages 2.8 APG. 
 
100 Point Club
Guard Skylar Barnes has made an impact for the Redhawks scoring the basketball at an impressive clip. Barnes has scored 146 points this season, including a SEMO career-high of 22 against William Woods (12/31). Before Western Illinois, Barnes was on a six-game double-digit point streak including a 21-point performance against Southern Indiana (1/9). Barnes is averaging 9.1 PPG and has made nine consecutive starts. 
 
Career-High Del Valle
Sophomore Anjelicia Del Valle had her best scoring performance on Saturday afternoon at Western Illinois. The Portage, Indiana-native scored seven points on 2-6 shooting and went 3-6 at the free throw line. This season, Del Valle is averaging 13.9 minutes-per-game and is shooting 22.9-percent from the field. 
 
Scouting the Opponent
UT Martin
The Skyhawks enter Thursday's game with a 7-14 overall record and a 4-6 OVC mark led by 16^th year head coach Kevin McMillan. UTM is averaging 65.8 points-per-game and are allowing 69.6 PPG to their opponents. 
 
As a team, the Skyhawks are shooting 42.1-percent from the field, 31.3-percent from three, and an impressive 73.0-percent at the foul line.
