Redhawks Continue Road Stretch
•    Southeast Missouri continues its three-game road stretch when it heads to in-state foe Lindenwood Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., CT at Hyland Arena.
•    SEMO is on the road in Ohio Valley Conference play for fourth time.
•    Each of the Redhawks first three road OVC contests were decided by a combined 12 points.
•    SEMO edged Tennessee State, 67-65, on Jan. 2, dropped a close 66-63 decision at UT Martin on Jan. 4 and beat Tennessee Tech, 77-70, on Jan. 16 in those matchups.
•    SEMO is 3-5 in true road matchups this season.

Series Notes
•    Southeast Missouri and Lindenwood are the only Division I schools in Missouri that are conference rivals.
•    SEMO holds a slight 4-3 edge in the all-time series between the schools located a little over two hours apart.
•    LU won three of the last four meetings and is 2-0 against the Redhawks at Hyland Arena.
•    Both games played in St. Charles were decided by four or less points.
•    The Lions beat SEMO, 105-102, in overtime on Jan. 23, 2023 and, 58-54, on Jan. 30, 2024.

OVC Update 
•    The Redhawks start the week in a three-way tie for third in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with SIU Edwardsville and UT Martin. All three of those teams have 5-3 league records.
•    Morehead State (7-1) tops the standings followed by second-place Little Rock (5-2).
•    Southeast Missouri picked up its 10th win of the season with a 77-70 road victory over Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16).
•    SEMO (10-9) became the fourth OVC team to 10 wins joining Morehead State (12-7), Little Rock (11-7) and SIU Edwardsville (12-7).
•    The Redhawks surpassed their number of overall (9) and OVC (4) wins from 2024-25.
•    SEMO began the 2024-25 season with a 3-0 record in OVC play marking the first time it won three-straight games to start a conference season since 2011-12.
•    The Redhawks beat Eastern Illinois (79-72, Dec. 19), SIU Edwardsville (80-64, Dec. 21) and Southern Indiana (77-66, Jan. 9) at home, and Tennessee State (67-65, Jan. 2) and Tennessee Tech (77-70, Jan. 16) on the road for their OVC wins this year.
•    SEMO won six of its last nine OVC games dating back to last year's season-ending 70-66 victory at Southern Indiana.

Seven of 10
•    Southeast Missouri won seven of its last 10 games with five of those victories coming in Cape Girardeau.
•    SEMO is 3-2 at the Show Me Center and 2-1on the road in conference play.

Back to Work
•    After playing four games in seven days, Southeast Missouri was idle last weekend.
•    SEMO returns to action following a seven-day break.
•    The Redhawks last played at Tennessee Tech, where they came away with a 77-70 victory on Jan. 16.

Nice Defense
•    Southeast Missouri has held its opponent under 70 points in six of its last eight games.
•    SEMO (67.9 ppg allowed) is second in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring defense behind SIU Edwardsville (66.6 ppg allowed).
•    SIUE's 64 points are the fewest scored by a Division I opponent against SEMO this season.

200 Assists in Sight
•    Point guard Rob Martin (185) is 15 assists away from reaching 200 in his career.
•    Martin leads Southeast Missouri and ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 77 assists through 19 games this season.
•    He averages four assists per game and has dished out five or more a total of five times.
•    Martin finished with a career-high nine assists in SEMO's OVC opener against Eastern Illinois (Dec. 19).
•    Jonathan Dalton was the last Redhawk to get 200 or more assists in a career (315, 2016-19).

Big Road Win
•    Southeast Missouri never trailed en route to a 77-70 win at Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16).
•    SEMO handed the Golden Eagles their first home loss of the season.
•    After leading by 21 at halftime (47-26), TTU used a 24-9 run in the first 10:06 of the second half to get within six.
•    The Golden Eagles later narrowed SEMO's lead to 59-57 with eight minutes to go before the Redhawks countered with a 9-0 run and didn't look back.
•    The Redhawks snapped a seven-game losing streak against TTU in Cookeville winning there for the first time since 2014.
•    SEMO moved to 6-26 all-time against the Golden Eagles at the Eblen Center.

What a Half
•    The Redhawks put together their best first half of basketball this season against Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16).
•    Southeast Missouri shot 60 percent (18-of-30) from the field and built its largest halftime lead against a Division I opponent (47-26).
•    SEMO's .600 field goal percentage was its best in a first half this year.
•    The Redhawks also moved to 9-0 in games where they lead at the half.

Major Improvement
•    After finishing 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference in free throw shooting a year ago, Southeast Missouri ranks second in that category.
•    Through 19 games, SEMO is shooting 70.8 percent (230-of-325) behind Southern Indiana's 72.9 percent (255-of-350) clip.
•    In conference games alone, the Redhawks are the top free throw shooting team in the OVC.
•    SEMO is shooting 73.5 percent (122-of-166) at the charity stripe against league opponents.

About Lindenwood
•    Lindenwood is on a two-game losing streak after suffering back-to-back road losses at Southern Indiana (80-73, Jan. 16) and Ohio Valley Conference leader Morehead State (82-65, Jan. 18).
•    LU is 7-1 at home this season with its seven home victories tying for second-most in the league.
•    Jadis Jones (11.7 ppg), a freshman guard from New Madrid, Missouri, is the Lions' third-leading scorer behind Anias Futrell (13.5 ppg) and Markeith Browning II (13.1 ppg).
•    Jones was named OVC Freshman of the Week for the sixth time on Jan. 20.
•    As a team, LU leads the conference with nine steals a game.
•    Sixth-year LU Head Coach Kyle Gerdeman and Associate Head Coach Anthony Beane were at SEMO as assistant coaches earlier in their careers.
•    LU, which is in year three of the reclassification process, has officially notified the NCAA of its intent to engage in the expedited process to exit the reclassification phase one year early thus allowing for all teams to be fully eligible for NCAA Championships during the 2025-26 academic year.
•    This came shortly after the Division I council adopted the proposal to revise the process for institutions reclassifying from Division II or Division III to Division I on Jan. 16, 2025. The revised process will now require a three-year reclassification for an institution moving from Division II to Division I and a four-year period for institutions from Division III to Division I.

OVC Leader in Turnover Margin
•    The Redhawks are first in the Ohio Valley Conference with a +3.05 turnover margin.
•    Southeast Missouri is committing a league low 10.8 turnovers per game while forcing 13.8.
•    SEMO turned the ball over less than 10 times a total of seven games this season.

Pulling Rank
•    In Ohio Valley Conference games, Southeast Missouri leads the league in free throw percentage (.735) and assist/turnover ratio (1.23).
•    Overall, SEMO is first in the OVC in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.272).
•    The Redhawks are among the top three teams in the conference in scoring defense (2nd, 67.9 ppg allowed), scoring margin (3rd, +5.53), free throw percentage (2nd, .708), 3-point field goal percentage defense (1st, .272), field goal percentage (2nd, .440), field goal percentage defense (3rd, .413), turnover margin (1st, +3.05), assist/turnover ratio (2nd, 1.26) and rebounding defense (3rd, 35.2 rpg).

Redhawks Tied for Third in the Nation Defending the Three
•    Southeast Missouri is tied for third in the nation in 3-point percentage defense with Middle Tennessee (.272) behind Tennessee (.255) and Cincinnati (.269).
•    Opponents are shooting just 27.2 percent from downtown against Southeast Missouri this season.
•    SEMO has held its opponent to five or less 3-pointers made in 12 of its 19 games in 2024-25.
•    There are a total of 355 NCAA Division I basketball teams.
