
Five Athletes Tab Weekly OVC Track and Field Honors

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Five Southeast Missouri track and field athletes tab Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors after their performances at the Redhawks Invite this past weekend the league announced Wednesday morning.
Nick Cimmarusti was awarded with OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week after breaking the SEMO Rec Center 3000m record with a time of 8:33.92. The senior bested nine other runners to rank first in the OVC in the 3000m.
Sydney Burdine tabbed OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. She placed first in the 200m and 55m with times of 25.93 and 7.84. The sprinter edged out nine and ten other athletes in the events. Her 200m time ranks 8th in OVC and her 55m time ranks 43rd in the NCAA.
Paden Lewis claimed OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after finishing ahead of 19 and 20 other athletes for first in the weight throw and shot put. The senior achieved a mark of 69' 2.5" in the weight throw for fourth in SEMO Records and second in the OVC and a distance of 59' 6.75" in the shot put for fifth in SEMO records and first in the OVC and 25th in the NCAA.
Baylee Beard notched OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week. The transfer from Central Methodist won the weight throw ( 57' 4.75") and the shot put (43' 7.75") events. The junior weight throw mark was a new PR and ranks first in the OVC and the shot put mark ranks second in conference.
The freshman Dominic Revels claimed OVC Male Freshman of the Week for his performance at the Redhawks Invite. In the 55m he crossed the line at 6.47 for second place, with the time ranking second in the country. In the 200m he clocked a time of 23.87 for fourth out of 16 athletes.
These athletes will be back in action this Friday at the Show Me Showdown in Columbia, Mo., on the campus of the university of Missouri.
