Redhawks Begin Ohio Valley Conference Play Friday-Saturday at Southern Indiana
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (3-8) will begin the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference portion of their schedule on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28, as they travel to Evansville, Ind. to take on Southern Indiana. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. & 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively, from Screaming Eagles Arena.Â

Series History
The Redhawks have dominated the series with USI in eight meetings. This weekend will mark the ninth and 10
th meetings in volleyball between the two schools. SEMO holds a 7-1 record against USI and is currently on a seven-game winning streak in the series.Â

The last time these two met came back in 2022 in Evansville. SEMO took both matches over the weekend with a 3-0, 3-1 victory on Oct. 14-15, 2022. The Redhawks have dropped three total sets against USI over the history dating back to 1985.Â

Last Time Out
The Redhawks spent the final weekend of the non-conference portion of the schedule in Carbondale, Ill. where they dropped both matches in heartbreaking fashion as both losses came in the fifth and final set.Â

SEMO opened the Saluki Invitational with a 3-2 loss to Missouri State behind a career-best 19 kills from
Abby Johnson. The Redhawks out hit Missouri State by a .209 to .207 advantage, but the Bears rallied in the fifth set to take the match.Â

The Redhawks turned around for Saturday's match against local rival Southern Illinois and fell in five sets. SEMO led by a score of 7-1 or more in all four of the opening frames, but SIU utilized a .208 to .191 hitting advantage to steal a victory at Davies Gym in Carbondale.Â

Double-Double
A trio of Redhawks have found themselves in double-digits in two categories multiple times this season, led by sophomore
Lucy Arndt with five and followed by freshman
Megan Holder (4), and junior
Jenny Shook (2). Arndt is currently on a four-game double digit streak having most recently finished with 16 digs and 16 kills against Southern Illinois. Holder's last double-double came against Eastern Kentucky with an 11 dig, 20 assist performance.Â

Abbey Richman and
Lucy Arndt rank near the top of all NCAA Division I volleyball in statistical categories beginning with digs-per-set.
Abbey Richman is ranked number 16 in the nation and second in the OVC with 4.97 digs-per-set. Karli Wenzel of WIU leads the OVC (5.38) while Jada Wills of Drake leads the nation (6.15).Â

Richmann also ranks 73
rd in the nation in total digs as she has 189 on the season.Â

Arndt is 62
nd in the nation, third in the OVC, in attacks-per-set with 10.64. Keyana Cruse of WIU leads the conference (13.60) while Giulia Cardona of Evansville leads the nation (14.55).  Arndt ranks 51
st in the nation in total attacks (468) and third in the OVC.Â

Abby Johnson lead the Redhawks in kills with 125 and 123, respectively.  Arndt has finished with double-digit kills in nine-of-11 matches in 2024 as Johnson has eight matches under her belt in double figures. Both are in the top 10 in the conference as Arndt ranks eighth, Johnson 10
th.Â

Arndt has a season-high 17 kills against Middle Tennessee (9/6) while Johnson recently recorded 19 kills against Missouri State (9/20) for her SEMO career-high.Â

The Redhawks have found success early in their matches as they have seven, first set victories on the season. The Redhawks are 7-4 in the first set, their best win-loss total for the campaign. SEMO is outscoring their opponents 253-247 in the opening set.Â

Megan Holder and
Jenny Shook have been responsible for 342-of-473 total assists on the season. Holder leads the Redhawks with 202 total assists (5.32 assists-per-set) and ranks eighth in the conference. Shook has 140 assists for a 4.24 assist-per-set mark.Â

Alaina Lester leads the club with 44.0 total blocks on the season. She has 10 solo blocks and 34 assists over 43 sets played for a 1.02 block-per-set ratio. Lester currently ranks fifth in the OVC.

Southern Indiana
The Screaming Eagles enter conference play with a 5-7 mark overall coming off a pair of wins against Evansville (3-2) and Indiana University-Indianapolis (3-0) a weekend ago at the USI Invitational.Â

Ashby Willis and Jasmine Green lead the Screaming Eagles in kills with 118 and 110, respectively. USI is coming off their best performance offensively against Evansville with a 72-kill performance with a .274 hitting-percentage (9/20).Â

Setter Carly Sobieralski has dished out a team-best 410 assists over the first 12 games of the season and ranks third in the conference in that category.Â
