CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Two days after its 38-21 road victory at #7 Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri moved into the top-15 of both the Stats Perform Media and American Football Coaches Association Coaches polls Monday.
SEMO moved up eight spots to #13 in the Stats Perform Media Poll and seven spots to #14 in the AFCA Coaches Poll. The Redhawks sent their longtime rival SIU down 10 places to #17 in each poll.
The Redhawks gave Head Coach
Tom Matukewicz his ninth win over a ranked opponent and fourth victory over a Top-10 team. No coach in SEMO history has more victories over ranked opponents or Top-10 ranked foes than Matukewicz.
SEMO is among the top 15 Football Championship teams in the nation for the first time since Sept. 11, 2023 (#15 in AFCA Coaches Poll, #13 in Stats Perform Media Poll).
The Redhawks, now 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Association play, host Northwestern State in their final non-league contest Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m., CT at Houck Field.
