Redhawks Break School Record with 45 OVC Medals of Honor

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri earned a school record 45 Ohio Valley Conference Medals of honor for the 2023-24 academic year.
The OVC Academic Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athletes who achieve the highest grade point average in a Conference-sponsored sport. Every Academic Medal of Honor recipient for the 2023-24 academic year recorded a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
It marked the second year in a row where SEMO collected over 40 OVC Medals of Honor. In 2022-23, the Redhawks had 43 and that was the previous record before their highest mark in 2023-24. SEMO last led the OVC in Academic Medals of Honor during the 2018-19 campaign (37).
Eastern Illinois (41), Lindenwood (38) and Tennessee Tech (35) followed the Redhawks. The sport of women's soccer had the most honorees league-wide with 61. Women's track & field and softball added 43 and 30, respectively.
In all, 310 student-athletes won the OVC Medal of Honor. Over the past five years, there have been 1,500 student-athletes earn the distinction.
The OVC will announce the recipients of the Commissioner's Honor Roll, Academic Achievement Award and the Team Academic Achievement Awards next week.
