FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Terrico Garrett shined during day one of the NCAA West Preliminary Round. Three Redhawks competed at the John McDonnell Field and two notched new personal bests.
Jaden Kight and
Clara Billing will compete during day two of the meet. Kight will throw the javelin at 2:00 p.m CT and Billing is slated to compete in the pole vault at 6:30 p.m.
New Record
Terrico Garrett crossed the line at 1:48.20 (14th) to break the SEMO 800m record and claim a spot in the quarter finals on Friday. The Missouri native broke the record that has stood since 1984 when Carl Bell finished the 800m in 1:48.85.
Other Achievements
Justin Breault threw for a mark of 207' 7" during the first day of competition. The throw was his second best of the season and good enough for 29th.
Paden Lewis achieved a PR mark of 60' 3" in the shot put for 14th. That mark is third best in the SEMO record books.
