Redhawks Land Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Transfer Teddy Washington

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri added Texas A&M-Corpus Christi guard Teddy Washington Jr. to its 2024-25 signing class Thursday.

A native of Blytheville, Arkansas, Washington Jr. spent one season at Texas A&M-CC, a member of the Southland Conference.

Washington Jr. played in 27 games and made one start, averaging 6.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game for the Islanders in 2023-24. He ranked second on the team with 28 three-pointers made and 37 steals and dished out 28 assists. Washington Jr. scored double figures a total of six times with a season-best 19 points vs. Southeastern Louisiana.

"We knew we needed a mature presence on the perimeter and Teddy fits that mold," said SEMO Head Coach Brad Korn. "Teddy can play all guard positions and has the mentality to drive a team to winning. He has known about SEMO his entire life being from Blytheville, Arkansas and is proud to wear our jersey. We are thrilled to have Teddy and all he brings to our program."

Prior to NCAA Division I basketball, Washington Jr. played two years at Moberly Area Community College. There, he earned All-Region honors and was the recipient of the Leadership and Best Offensive Player awards. Washington Jr. averaged 14.2 points per game helping lead the Greyhounds to a 30-4 overall record and undefeated 14-0 conference mark in 2022-23.

Washington Jr. joins fellow transfers Elliot Lowndes (F, John A. Logan College) and Troy Cole Jr. (G, Highland CC) on the 2024-25 roster.
