Volleyball Heads to UT Martin for Road Test Friday & Saturday
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (13-11, 10-2 OVC) will be on the road for two-straight weeks beginning on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, when they travel to take on UT Martin (5-16, 3-9 OVC) to continue Ohio Valley Conference play. First serve is set for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., CT. on Friday and Saturday, respectively, from Skyhawk Fieldhouse.Â

Series HistoryÂ
On the volleyball court, the Redhawks have dominated the battle with UTM as the two schools will meet for the 94
th and 95
th time(s) this weekend. SEMO holds a 70-23 record in a matchup of two of the longest tenured schools in the OVC. The Redhawks are currently on a four-match win streak dating back to Oct. 1, 2022 (3-0 SEMO). SEMO dominated UTM last season in Cape Girardeau with a six-game sweep of the visitors.Â

Long Week
The Redhawks were last in action a week ago in a week that featured three tough matches for SEMO starting with a single match against Little Rock (10/29) and then two at home against Tennessee Tech this past weekend. SEMO took two-out-of-three matches and in both of their wins, the match went five sets.Â

The Redhawks completed the reverse sweep of Little Rock in Little Rock before returning home and winning in five sets against Tennessee Tech on Friday night.Â

Arndt Soars
Sophomore
Lucy Arndt had an impressive three-match week recorded 53 kills over 14 sets played a week ago. Arndt began the week with a season-high 22 kills at Little Rock fresh off her first Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors this season. She averaged 3.79 kills-per-set and finished the week with a .268 hitting-percentage.Â

Lucy Arndt has recorded 1,069 total attacks which ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference. In addition to being third in the OVC, Arndt now ranks 12
th in all of Division I Volleyball in total attacks.Â

The Lester Wall
Freshman middle blocker has been a force at the net for the Redhawks in 23 matches having recorded 105 total blocks. She has 19 solo blocks and 86 block assists on the season. With 86 block assists, Lester has the chance to crack the top 10 in SEMO program history with 'block assists in a single season'.  Nzingha Clarke is the single-season leader registering 115 block assists in 2017.Â

Double-Digit Assists
Setters
Megan Holder and
Kennedey Johnson have been distributing the ball at a high clip this season, specifically after the start of Ohio Valley Conference play. Holder, a freshman, currently ranks seventh in the league with 499 total assists over 89 sets played (5.61 APS). She has recorded double digit assists numbers in 22-of-23 matches this season. Johnson has 229 assists this season, averaging 3.95 assists per set as the secondary setter. She is currently on a seven-match streak of 10+ assists and has recorded double digits in 10-of-the-last-11.Â

What Remains?Â
Friday's match begins a four-match road streak for the Redhawks. Following their two matches in Martin, SEMO will then head to St. Charles, Mo. for two matches with Lindenwood (Nov. 14-15). SEMO and LU are the top two teams in the OVC heading into this weekend. The Redhawks will then finish the 2024 regular season at home against SIUE (Nov. 19-20).Â

Scouting the Opponent
UT Martin
The Skyhawks enter the weekend matchup with a 5-16 record overall and a 3-9 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. UTM most recently split with Tennessee State in Nasvhille, Tennessee winning the second match, 3-2, after dropping the opening match with the Tigers (0-3).Â

UTM is currently in a three-way tie for eighth place in the league table at 3-9 with Southern Indiana and Eastern Illinois.Â

Five Skyhawks lead the offense with 100+ kills, led by freshman Kylie Surratt who has 233 kills on the season. Kayla Bryant (158), Jenna Vallée (148), Kristin Phillips (130), and Addy Vaughn (100) round out the top five offensive producers.Â

Katie Cruise directs the offense as she has dished out a team-high 526 assists. Cruise ranks sixth in the OVC in assists, dishing out 6.74 assists-per-set.Â

Defensively, Dylan Mott leads the backrow with 398 total digs on the season which ranks her second in the OVC (5.10 DPS). At the net, Phillips and Vaughn lead in blocks with 48.0 and 46.0 total blocks, respectively.
