CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Volleyball (13-11, 10-2 OVC) fell in four sets on Saturday afternoon to Tennessee Tech (17-7, 6-6 OVC) by a final score of 3-1 inside Houck Field House.
Saturday's match was senior night for five Redhawks seniors as
Kayla Closset,
Abby Johnson,
Kennedey Johnson,
Lexi Morse, and
Abbey Richman were honored prior to the match.
Morse, a Tampa, Florida native, got herself on the stat sheet with a kill and two assists from her middle blocker position.
TTU took the first two sets by scores of 25-20, 25-19, before the Redhawks took the third 25-19. Tech sealed the deal with a 25-18 fourth set victory snapping a nine-match win streak in OVC play for the Redhawks.
Lucy Arndt paced the way offensively for SEMO with 17 kills on 38 total attacks for an impressive .421 hitting-percentage. She recorded just one error on the afternoon.
Freshman
Marin Johnson and graduate
Abby Johnson chipped in nine and eight kills, respectively, as the Redhawks totaled 49 kills as a team.
Setters
Kennedey Johnson and
Megan Holder recorded twenty plus kills on the night led by Johnson with 21. Holder chipped in 20 with six digs for the Redhawks defense. As a team, SEMO hit .231.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 8-2 lead in the opening frame before Tech would tie the match at 13 apiece.
SEMO could never regain the lead in the first set as TTU outhit SEMO .206 to .195 to take the first set.
The second set went the way of the visitor's as Tech utilized a .351 to .290 hitting advantage to go up 2-0 in the match.
SEMO led 14-11 midway through the second frame following an attack error from TTU's Alayna Pierce, but three straight Tech points tied the match at 14.
A kill from
Avery Torrey gave the Redhawks a 16-15 lead nearing the final points of the set. Torrey finished the match with four kills (.190).
TTU would close the set on a 10-3 run to take it, 25-19.
SEMO dominated the third set, holding TTU to a .000 hitting-percentage. Five different Redhawks recorded kills in the third set as the Redhawks hit .256 as a team.
The Redhawks never trailed in the third set, jumping out to an 8-2 lead before taking the set, 25-19.
Tech snatched victory in the fourth set with a .394 to .194 hitting advantage.

SEMO Volleyball will return to action next Friday & Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at UT Martin. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday night in Martin, Tennessee.
