HOUCK FIELD HOUSE – Southeast Missouri Volleyball (17-12, 14-3 OVC) downed SIUE (12-16, 7-10 OVC) on Tuesday night by a final score of 3-1. The Redhawks won by scores of 25-16, 15-25, 25-17, and 27-25 to win their seventh game of the season inside Houck Field House.

SEMO Volleyball wrapped-up a share of the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Regular Season Championship with the victory, needing just one more win tomorrow night to claim the outright title and the tournament's number one overall seed.

The Redhawks were led offensively by a trio of hitters that finished in double figures. Lucy Arndt led the way with 18 kills on 53 attempts with just five errors. She finished the match with a .245 hitting-percentage. Arndt finished with 26 digs to add another double-double to her season tally (15).

Abby Johnson and Avery Torrey recorded 13 and 10 kills, respectively, as the Redhawks hit .225 as a team. For Torrey, her 10 kills were a season-high as she finished with 20 total attacks for an impressive .450 hitting-percentage (one error).

Reigning OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week NIna Schuberth turned in 26 digs in the match. She finished with a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 13 total attempts.

SEMO opened the match on fire, outhitting SIUE with a .282 to .086 hitting advantage. Three-straight Arndt kills made it 11-6 followed by a kill from Torrey to make it 12-6 as the visitors were forced into a timeout.

From there it was all SEMO as the Redhawks closed the set on a 8-4 run capped off by a SIUE attack error to take it 25-16.

SIUE stormed back in the second set with a team-high .349 hitting mark for the Cougars as they took set two, 25-15.

The Cougars started the set on a 7-0 run and cruised their way to a set two victory capped off by a kill from Sydney Hummert. Hummert finished the match with 13 kills (.114).

SEMO rebounded in the third set with an offensive attack that finished as a game-high .350. Late in the set, SEMO led 16-12 following a kill from senior Lexi Morse but then weathered a 3-0 run from the Cougars to make it 16-15 SEMO.

The Redhawks responded with a 3-0 run of their own thanks to a pair of kills from Arndt and a solo block by Alaina Lester. SEMO would close on a 4-0 run, finished off by a kill from A. Johnson to take the second set, 25-17.

SEMO jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth and final set after back-to-back blocks by Lester and Arndt. The duo paired for a block assist before Arndt denied one by herself.

Winning 9-5 after a kill from Marin Johnson, SIUE went on a 5-0 run to force the Redhawks into a timeout trailing 10-9.

Back-to-back kills from Torrey and Arndt tied the set at 12.  The sides would trade points, all the way up to 17-17 before SEMO could grab a two-point lead following a kill by Abby Johnson to make it 19-17.

Both teams would take final timeouts and after SIUE's final timeout, the set was tied at 24-24 after a kill from Bree Schreimann.
