Paxton DeLaurent was named Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Association Offensive Player of the Week and kicker
DC Pippin picked up Specialist of the Week honors Monday.
A native of Camdenton, Missouri, DeLaurent had a hand in five of SEMO's six touchdowns against Western Illinois. He completed 25-of-40 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns, and ran for 40 yards and another score. Each of the Redhawks first five touchdowns of the game came from DeLaurent. He threw TD passes of 21, 39, 17 and 48 yards, and scored on a 10-yard run. After the game was tied at 24-24 with 2:05 left in the second quarter, DeLaurent's fourth touchdown pass regained the lead for SEMO and it never trailed again after that.
The honor is DeLaurent's fifth of the season.
Pippin, who hails from Springfield, Illinois, was also named Stats Perform Special Teams Player of the Week. He scored a career-high 18 points and did not miss a kick against the Leathernecks. Pippin connected on 4-of-4 field goals, hitting from 43, 20, 40 and 34 yards and was a perfect 6-of-6 on PATs. The four field goals made matched a career-high and tied for third-most by a FCS player this season. Pippin also had 11 kickoffs for an average of 55 per kick with four touchbacks. He leads the FCS in field goals per game (2.36) and is fourth in scoring (10.1 ppg).
Pippin collected his fourth Big South-OVC Specialist of the Week accolade this year.
