Redhawks Trek to Morehead State for Big Weekend in OVC Play
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (7-10, 4-1 OVC) will travel to Morehead, Kentucky to resume Ohio Valley Conference play against longtime foe Morehead State (8-9, 4-2 OVC) in a pivotal conference matchup. First serve is slated for 5 p.m., CT. on Friday, Oct. 18 before wrapping up on Saturday at 1 p.m. from Johnson Arena.Â

Two of the longest tenured programs in the Ohio Valley Conference, the Eagles & Redhawks will face-off for the 59

th time(s) over the weekend beginning with Friday's match. SEMO holds a 35-23 advantage in the battle of the birds. SEMO swept the regular season last year with a 3-1, 3-0 win in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks are on a current three-match win streak against Morehead, with the Eagles last win coming in 2022 at Morehead (3-2).Â

In four-of-five conference matches, Lucy has recorded double-digit kills including a conference match-best, 14 against Tennessee State (10/4).Â

Alaina Lester has led the Redhawks all season long in blocks and now ranks third in the OVC in blocks. Lester, a Millstadt, Illinois native, has 75 total blocks on the season for a 1.15 block-per-set average. Over 65 sets played, Lester has 13 solo blocks and 62 block assists.Â

Redshirt sophomore
Ramiri Gardner has started in 15-of-17 matches this season and has made a big impact on the season from the middle of the attack. Gardner leads the team with a .363 hitting-percentage on the season. She has recorded 115 kills on 245 total attacks (26 errors) over 66 sets this season. She ranks number one in the OVC in hitting-percentage as she is 13 points ahead of Rebecca Janke from Lindenwood (.350).Â

Setter
Megan Holder has led SEMO to a .191 hitting-percentage as a team in conference play with her 136 assists in five OVC matches so far. Holder, a freshman from Freeport, Illinois, ranks sixth in the conference in assists with 353 over 60 sets. She has a 5.88 assist-per-set ratio. Jordan Karlen of Tennessee Tech leads the conference with 697 (11.06 APS).Â

Nearing the midway point of the OVC season, the Redhawks enter the weekend in second place with a 4-1 overall record. Lindenwood is in first place with a 6-1 record as the Lions have not had their bye week yet, with two more games played than the Redhawks. Morehead State comes into the matchup with SEMO at 8-9 overall and a 4-2 record in the OVC led by head coach Kyrsten Becker-McBride.Â
