
DeLaurent and Norman Earn Big South-OVC Honors Again

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri quarterback Paxton DeLaurent was named Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Association Offensive Player of the Week and linebacker Bryce Norman was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week Monday.
A native of Camdenton, Missouri, DeLaurent picked up his fourth Big South-OVC Offensive Player of the Year honor this season. He established a new career-high in passing yards when he threw for 418 and four touchdowns to lead #9 SEMO to a 34-3 rout of Tennessee Tech. DeLaurent's performance helped the Redhawks claim sole possession of first in the Big South-OVC standings.
He completed 34-of-46 passes and threw three of his TD passes in the second half, where SEMO scored the final 24 points of the contest. DeLaurent broke three of his program's career records becoming the Redhawks all-time leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns and completions. He is just the second quarterback in program history to throw for over 6,000 yards.
Norman, who hails from nearby Jackson, took home his second Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Week accolade in 2024. He recorded a season-high 15 tackles against the Golden Eagles. Norman had three solo stops and assisted on 12 others, while adding 1.5 tackles for loss, one breakup and a quarterback hurry. He led a SEMO defense that forced three turnovers and limited the Big South-OVC's top rushing offense to just 34 yards.
SEMO has won a total of nine Big South-OVC weekly awards this season.
