CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri will hold its spring football game on Friday, Apr. 21 at Scott City High School. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., CT with tailgating and other activities beginning at 5 p.m.
SEMO's intrasquad game-simulated contest will wrap up the team's series of 15 practices this spring. It will feature Team SEMO (black jerseys) against Team Redhawk (red jerseys). This year's honorary coaches are Scott City and SEMO alumns Brent Anderson (Team Redhawk) and Greg Klund (Team SEMO).
The event is open to the public. Donations are encouraged and will be provided to the Boys and Girls Club. Sponsors include Scott City Chamber of Commerce, The Front Porch, JAC3 Contracting, QNS and SoutheastHEALTH.
SEMO officially began its spring drills Wednesday at the intramural turf fields due to rain.
The Redhawks have 89 players participating in spring workouts. Defensively, SEMO returns First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference and All-American linebacker
Bryce Norman and First-Team All-OVCÂ and All-American safety
Lawrence Johnson. Outside linebacker
Keandre Booker, defensive lineman
Steven Lewis and cornerback
Ty Leonard are also back after garnering Second-Team All-OVC accolades.
Offensively, OVC Offensive Player of the Year and All-American running back

Paxton DeLaurent, First-Team All-OVCÂ wide receiver
Ryan Flournoy and 2022 Rimington Award winner
Zack Gieg return.
Tom Matukewicz, who was named the 2022 Roy Kidd OVC Coach of the Year, starts his 10th season as SEMO's head coach. Matukewicz has guided the Redhawks to two OVC titles and three NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoff appearances in the last five years alone.

All practices are open to the public and will be held at the Rosengarten Athletic Complex. In the event of inclement weather, practices will move to the turf intramural fields located next to the Southeast Softball Complex on Sprigg & Bertling.
