SEMO, which shared this year's OVC regular-season title with UT Martin, secured the league's automatic berth when it won a coin flip after Saturday's games. Both the Redhawks and Skyhawks finished atop the conference standings with identical 5-0 records.
Â
The Redhawks make their fourth FCS Playoff appearance in program history and first since the 2019 campaign. SEMO made the playoffs in 2010, 2018 and 2019 prior to this season. The Redhawks are 1-3 all-time in their postseason history and meet Montana for the first time ever. Three of those playoff berths have come under Head Coach
Tom Matukewicz.
