
Three Teams Earn OVC Academic Achievement Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri had three different teams earn the Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award Wednesday. The women's tennis, women's track & field and women's cross country teams garnered the honor.
The league announced the recipients of all 16 OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards, which are presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution's team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher. Belmont claimed an OVC-best four awards, while Austin Peay and SEMO won three apiece and Morehead State, Murray State and SIUE followed with two each. In total, six different member institutions garnered at least one team award.
Belmont University has been awarded the 2018-19 Ohio Valley Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award. The award is presented annually to the member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes that earn a 3.25 grade point average or higher for that academic year.

Women's Track and Field: Southeast Missouri
Women's Volleyball: Belmont
The awards cap a week of announcements regarding 2018-19 academic year awards. It was previously announced that a record 1,382 OVC student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll (for having a 3.25 GPA or better) while a record 268 student-athletes achieved perfect 4.0 GPA's to earn the OVC Academic Medal of Honor. SEMO led the league with the most Medal of Honor recipients and Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees.
