Thompson Records Double-Double in 64-54 Win Over Austin Peay

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tesia Thompson turned in a double-double 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Southeast Missouri (7-7, 2-1) to a 64-54 victory over Austin Peay (7-7, 2-1) Thursday night at the Show Me Center.

Thompson, who recorded her fourth double-double this season, scored six of her points in the third quarter to help SEMO grab the lead.
 
SEMO shot a season-best 81 percent (17-of-21) at the free throw line and outrebounded APSU, 39-33. The Redhawks also collected 10 steals and forced 17 turnovers.

LaTrese Saine recorded 12 points to join Thompson with double figures in the scoring column. The West Memphis, Arkansas native also recorded two blocks and a season-best eight rebounds. In the final moments of play, Saine's trip to the charity stripe extended the SEMO lead as she was 3-of-4 in the final quarter and shot 6-of-7 (.857) for the night. 
 
Taelour Pruitt went 4-of-4 from the line in the final minutes of the game as well to help lift SEMO to its second Ohio Valley Conference win.
 
The Redhawks overcame an eight-point deficit late in the third quarter with a pair of jumpers by Saine and pulled ahead, 42-41.
 
The Governors tied things up at 47-47 with just over five minutes remaining in regulation. SEMO then outscored Austin Peay, 17-7, down the stretch.
 
Thompson shot 7-of-15 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free throw line. Saine made 3-of-5 field goals and 6-of-7 free throws. Jocelyn Taylor followed with nine points.

Keisha Gregory and Myah Leflore led APSU with 13 points each.

SEMO will wrap up its three-game home stand when it hosts Murray State Saturday.
