Redhawks Push League-Best UT Martin, Fall 78-60

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (9-16, 2-10) was defeated 78-60 by conference leader UT Martin (16-9, 12-0) on Wednesday evening at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks shot 51 percent (14-for-27) from the floor in the second half and 42 percent (24-for-57) for the game.
 
Allyson Bradshaw tied a career-high with seven made field goals and scored 18 points to lead the Redhawks. Olivia Hackmann added 15 points and Jasmine Robinson scored 10.
 
"I thought we really battled and competed," head coach Ty Margenthaler said. "We had three ladies score in double-digits. I'm proud of our effort."
 
Ashia Jones – the nation's eighth-leading scorer – finished with a game-high 29 points for the Skyhawks, including 23 in the second half. She was 8-for-17 from the floor and 13-for-16 from the free throw line.
 
UTM opened the game on a 13-2 run, including three baskets from beyond the arc.
 
Bradshaw drained two consecutive 3-pointers to pull within 17-10 with 12:56 remaining in the opening half.
 
Connor King drained a jumper to cut the lead to 24-14 with 9:42 left before halftime.
 
The Skyhawks then went on a 14-4 run, opening up a 38-18 advantage with 4:37 left in the first half.
 
Hackmann scored five points as Southeast went on a 6-0 run to make the score 38-24 with 31 seconds remaining in the half.
 
At the break, UT Martin held a 40-24 lead. Schubert led the Skyhawks with 11 points in the first 20 minutes, including a perfect 3-of-3 mark from long range.
 
UT Martin shot 50 percent (16-for-32) from the field and 55 percent (6-for-11) from beyond the arc in the first half. Southeast shot 33 percent (10-for-30) from the floor and from 3-point range (3-for-9) in the opening half.
 
Bradshaw led the Redhawks with six points in the first half while Hackmann and Robinson both contributed five.
 
With 15:16 remaining, Bradshaw connected on her third triple of the evening, marking the fourth time this season she has drained at least three from long range. She followed with a jumper and Yelena Rosado followed with a 3-point play to pull within 12 at 48-36 with 14:20 left.
 
Following a basket by Jones, Lively scored to make it 50-38 with 13:19 remaining. Hackmann cut the lead to 11 with a free throw at the 12:50 mark.
 
Bradshaw tied her season-high with her fourth 3-pointer with 11:21 left and Robinson followed with a fast break layup to cut the lead to 56-46 with 11:04 to play.
 
A layup by Bradshaw again cut the lead to 10 at 58-48 with 10:04 remaining. That was as close as the Redhawks would come as UT Martin opened up the lead over the final 10 minutes.
 
Schubert finished with 13 points for UTM while Jessy Ward contributed 11.
 
Southeast will complete the home stand with a 3:30 p.m CT tip-off Saturday vs. Murray State.
