BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri junior Chris Navarro has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Navarro, a native of Menifee, Calif., won four events in the decathlon this past weekend at the Alabama Relays enroute to winning the decathlon title.
Navarro claimed the title with 6,577 points and event victories in the 110-meter hurdles, high jump, javelin throw and shot put.
Helping his cause for the victory was a total of six top-three finishes.
After the first weekend of outdoor track and field action, Navarro ranks first in the OVC and eighth in the nation in the decathlon.
The Redhawks continue the outdoor season at the Memphis Invitational. The two-day meet begins Friday.
