CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A tale of two halves sunk the Southeast women's basketball team 102-70 to UT Martin Saturday afternoon at the Show Me Center.
With the win, UT Martin clinches the West Division of the Ohio Valley Conference with an 18-7 overall record and 11-1 in league play. Southeast falls to 8-17, 4-8.
The Redhawks stood neck-to-neck with the two-time defending OVC champs in the first half but a 57-point outburst by the Skyhawks in the second stanza dropped the Redhawks from upset contention.

Ty Margenthaler said. "Our team came out focused and with great energy."
The Redhawks and the Skyhawks put a show on for the fans in the first half with 12 lead changes and eight ties. The largest of which was by six points for the Redhawks with 10:20 remaining in the half on a 7-0 run.
"I thought we played really good defense in the first half," Margenthaler said. "When you make your shots, you play better defense. We made our shots in the first half."
Allyson Bradshaw began the run by hitting her second of three made 3-point baskets.
Connor King and
Patricia Mack each scored on a layup to complete the run and a 24-18 Redhawks lead.
UT Martin quickly answered back by hitting two-straight treys to knot the game at 24-24.
Southeast held its last lead of the game at 33-31 with 4:04 left in the half after
Jordan Hunter sank a pair of free throws.
An 8-0 run gave the Skyhawks a 39-33 lead with 2:20 left and entered the intermission with a 45-38 lead.
The second half saw the tide change for the Redhawks as the Skyhawks used a 14-2 run to build a 60-40 lead with 16:50 left and continued to roll, scoring 57 points in the second stanza.
UT Martin forced 15 turnovers, converting into 19 points.
"They sped us up maybe once or twice in the first half," Margenthaler said. "The second half they had us sped up for most of it. It was just two different halves.
Bradshaw led the Redhawks with 17 points while
Olivia Hackmann scored 10. UT Martin placed four in double-figure scoring led by Ashia Jones with 27 points.
The Redhawks now have three games in six days beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Murray State. The game is a make-up contest from Jan. 6.
