Quick Hits

Southeast Opens Three-Game Homestand
Southeast Missouri opens a three-game homestand when it steps out of league play to host NAIA member Central Methodist Saturday. This year marks the first-ever meeting between the Redhawks and Eagles.

Against Non-Division I
Southeast is a perfect 5-0 against non-Division I teams under head coach Tony Samuel. All five of those wins came at Houck Stadium. The Redhawks beat Missouri S&T in 2006, Southwest Baptist in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and Quincy in 2009.

Home Sweet Home
The Redhawks are 7-1 in their last eight games at Houck Stadium. Southeast went undefeated with a 5-0 record at home last season, and currently owns a 2-1 mark in Cape Girardeau this year.

Near-Comeback
Southeast nearly overcame a 25-point deficit in a 38-30 loss at UT Martin on Oct. 29. The Redhawks trailed, 28-3, before outscoring the Skyhawks, 27-10, in the final two quarters and five seconds of the game.

Peiffer Approaches 100 Tackles
Junior LB Blake Peiffer can become the first player in the Ohio Valley Conference to get 100 tackles this season. Peiffer needs just one more to hit that mark. Nick Stauffer, who currently coaches the Redhawk safeties, was the last to get 100 tackles in season when he finished with a single-season school record of 150 in 2008.

Man on a Mission
Blake Peiffer has registered double-digit tackles in six-straight games and seven of eight starts this season. Peiffer leads the conference and ranks sixth in the nation with 12.4 tackles per game. He recently had a game-high 15 tackles at UT Martin (Oct. 29). It marked the third time this season where Peiffer had 15 or more tackles in a game.

About Central Methodist
NAIA member Central Methodist makes a four-hour trek to Cape Girardeau to take on the Redhawks for the first time in 2011. The Eagles are currently 5-3 overall under fourth-year head coach Andy Dykens. CMU, which is part of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), is led by RB James Cody Jr., and QB Bryant Jackson. Cody is averaging 68.3 rushing yards per game, while Jackson is throwing for 100.7 yards per contest. The Eagles come to town on a three-game winning streak.
