Maureen Johnson

The 2025 season marks the fourth for Maureen Johnson as an assistant coach on the Redhawks volleyball staff.
 
Johnson joined SEMO in 2022 after serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Western Illinois in 2021 in Macomb, Illinois. At Western Illinois, Johnson coached all aspects of the game with an emphasis on blocking and attacking.
 
She has also had coaching stops at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina, and Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. At Newberry, Johnson was also the recruiting coordinator.
 
Johnson has experience in coordinating team travel, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, budgeting and managing social media.   
 
Prior to Newberry and Marietta, she served as the Director of Volleyball Operations at Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Illinois. As director of operations for the Huskies, she was responsible for all the logistical plans for team travel including hotels, meals and transportation. 
 
While at NIU, she earned her Master's in Sport Management in May 2018.
 
Johnson also has experience at the club level, having spent a year coaching the VC United Volleyball Club.
 
Prior to coaching, Johnson was a three-year starting middle blocker at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio. The Crystal Lake, Illinois, native, made two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances with the Eagles. She paced Ashland with a team-high 73 total blocks in 2012. 
 
Johnson graduated from Ashland in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
