Jo Jackson 2023

Jo Jackson

Jo Jackson joins the Southeast Missouri staff as cornerbacks coach in 2023.

Jackson was in the same capacity at Presbyterian College.

Prior to that, he was the running backs coach at Gannon University.

During his season at Gannon he coached a First-Team All-Conference running back who averaged 5.0+ yards per carry. Jackson also coached the return men and  was responsible for individual periods and scout teams on defense and special teams. He assisted the head coach and offensive coordinator in-game coverage recognition and opponents defensive backs breakdown. Jackson was the field equipment manager for Gannon, as well.

Jackson initially started coaching at Park View High School overseeing the defensive backs and serving as co-defensive coordinator. He helped coach a 4-3 defense while leading his players in formation recognition, two-man routes and personal recognition. He was responsible for opponent film breakdown and helped show top passing concepts in practice.

As a player, Jackson was a two-year starter and defensive captain at Orange Coast Junior College. He was in charge of calling all coverages and defensive checks. Jackson played corner, safety, nickel in match-quarters based defenses. He then moved to Florida Tech for two-years and was a defensive captain for current Blue Hose Head Coach Steve Englehart. Jackson helped lead Presbyterian College to its first playoff appearance in the program’s fourth year.
