1991 Softball Team - MIAA Champions, NCAA Final Four Participant
The 1991 Southeast Missouri softball team was the first in school history to advance to an NCAA Final Four. That team won the MIAA Conference Championship and finished with an overall record of 38-14 under head coach Lana Richmond. Southeast went undefeated at the NCAA Regional in Lakeland, Fla., and beat host and No. 1 seed Florida Southern College to reach the NCAA Final Four. The 1991 team was comprised of 13 members, which included two Second-Team All-Conference, All-Region and All-Tournament performers. This team, which also fashioned a 3.2 grade point average, achieved all its success with only 2.5 available scholarships.
