Southeast Missouri volleyball opens Ohio Vally Conference play on the road against Western Illinois Friday and Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY

The Redhawks and Leathernecks have met 14 times in the past with SEMO in full control of the series. The Redhawks enter leading 12-2 all-time which includes the current six match win streak the Redhawks are on and SEMO is 12-1 after the first match up. Western Illinois won the first matchup which dates back to 1977, but besides that matchup the Leathernecks have only beat the Redhawks in 2016.

Last Week
The Redhawks went 3-1 in their four matches which kicked off Sept. 16^th when SEMO hosted Little Rock and swept the Trojans coming back late in the third set to complete the sweep. SEMO then went to the Battle for Missouri and opened the tournament defeating Saint Louis in four sets 33-31, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17. The Redhawks then played Missouri State and took the opening set 25-19 before falling to the Bears in four sets 20-25, 23-25, 20-25. The weekend wrapped up with the second sweep of the week when SEMO swept Kansas City, who hosted the tournament, 25-16, 25-19, 25-15.

History
Lucy Arndt broke the Southeast Missouri volleyball career kills record in the ooening match of the battle for Missouri against Saint Louis when she reached 1,429 kills over her four seasons as a Redhawk. Arndt has cleared 400 kills in every season, and her highest total came in her freshman season with 446 kills.

Top of the OVC
As a team, SEMO sits atop of the OVC in four team statical categories. The Redhawks are first in team kills and they also sit 11^th in the nation in that category with 649 kills. Megan Holder and Ellie Burns as a tandem lead SEMO to the top of the team assists list with 590. That mark also sits 18^th in the nation. SEMO also leads in total attacks and sits 21^st in the nation with 1,738 and the final category SEMO is pacing the OVC in is team total blocks with 83.

The lone individual who leads the OVC in a stats category is Alaina Lester, her .398 attacking percentage tops the OVC and is 48^th in the nation.

The Pins
Both Arndt and Nelson sit in the top 60 in the nation in three statistical categories. Nelson sits 29^th in the nation and second in the OVC in points with 195.5, 30^th in the country and second in the OVC in total attacks with 467 as well as 22^nd in the country and second in the OVC in total kills with 175, just six behind the OVC leader.

Arndt sits 38^th in the country and third in the OVC in total attacks with 458, she also is 46^th in the nation in total kills, third in the OVC with 164 and 58^th in the country, fourth in the OVC in points with 185.0.

All-Tournament Team
Reagan Nelson and Lucy Arndt were selected to the Battle for Missouri All-Tournament team for their performances over the weekend. In the three matches Nelson racked up 53 kills, six aces and 21 digs. Arndt added 40 kills, 22 digs and five blocks.
