Nelson, Guilliams Tabbed as OVC Players of the Week

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team had two players honored by the Ohio Valley Conference on their weekly awards, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Sophomore outside hitter Reagan Nelson earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week and junior libero Holland Guilliams was voted as Co-Defensive Player of the Week.Â
Nelson racked up 68 kills on .225 attacking percentage over four matches. She also added seven assists, seven service aces and 38 digs. She had 22 kills to wrap up the Missouri Challenge against Kansas City on Sept. 19 with a .450 hitting percentage while also adding 10 digs for a double-double.  Against Missouri State she had five service aces while also adding 14 kills and 15 digs.Â
Guilliams had 60 digs over the four matches in the back row. She also added 21 assists and four service aces. Against Saint Louis to open the Missouri Challenge on Sept. 18, Guilliams had 24 digs and added nine assists.Â
SEMO has won the Offensive Player of the Week award in back-to-back weeks and it is the first time the Redhawks won the Defensive Player of the Week award. It is also both Nelson and Guilliams first OVC weekly honor of the season.
The Redhawks open OVC play at Western Illinois Friday at 6 p.m.
