Women's Basketball Continues Home Stretch Saturday Versus SIUE
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (5-11, 1-6 OVC) will continue its four-game homestand with a Saturday afternoon matchup versus OVC rival SIUE (8-9, 1-6 OVC). The Redhawks and Cougars will tip-off inside the Show Me Center on Saturday, January 17 at 1:30 p.m., CT. 
 
An Afternoon at SMC
Saturday's game is 'Kid's Day' at the Show Me Center. Kids 14 years and under will receive a FREE Southeast Missouri Basketball replica jersey when they attend the game versus SIUE. The game is also sponsored by Bank of Missouri and is also HSS College Night. 
 
Series History
The Redhawks and Cougars will matchup for the 57th time on the hardwood and the first time in 2025-26. Overall, SEMO holds a firm 34-22 record over SIUE and swept the regular season series last season. SIUE is the only team that second year head coach Briley Palmer has swept in her tenure at Southeast. The Redhawks are currently on a five-game winning streak in the series and have a 20-8 overall record against SIUE in the SMC. 
 
Thursday Night
Four Redhawks scored in double figures last night as Southeast Missouri fell to Lindenwood by a final score of 78-66 at the Show Me Center in front of 985 spectators. Junior guard Madison Ayers led the team with 16 points on 50-percent shooting (5-10) in a season-high 34 minutes of game time. Carmen Taylor (12), Kearra Jones (11), and Da'kariya Jackson (11) all finished over double figures but It wasn't enough as the Lions got 24 points from Aleshia Jones and scored 30-points in the fourth quarter to win the game. 
 
First Career Start
Junior Madison Ayers made her first Division I career start last night against Lindenwood. The Annapolis, Mo.-native played a career-high 34 minutes against the Lions and scored a personal best 16 points. She shot 5-10 from the field, 2-5 from three, and a near-perfect 4-5 at the charity stripe. Ayers' previous best came in the season-opener at Illinois when she scored seven points. 
 
Five-Straight
Graduate Carmen Taylor extended her double-digit points streak to five games last night as she finished with 12 points against the Lions. Taylor was 4-8 from three-point range (50%) marking her season-high three-point percentage with at least eight attempts. Taylor is shooting 31.4-percent from behind the arc this season (37-118). 
 
They Call Her Key
Sophomore Kearra Jones has burst onto the scene over the last three games, coming off a career best outing at Morehead State last weekend. Against Lindenwood, Jones extended her double-digit point streak to two-straight games after scoring 11 points and raised her season average to 8.1 PPG. She has also averaged 7.5 RPG over the last two outings, hauling in 10 rebounds against Morehead State and five more against Lindenwood. 
 
Eligible Starter
Despite missing one game due to injury, graduate student guard Raissa Nsabua has started 15-of-15 games in which she was available including last night against Lindenwood. The Ottawa, Ontario-native finished with six points on 2-5 shooting and had eight assists over 32-minutes of action. Nsabua's eight assists marked her second-highest assist total of the season and pushed her season total to 62. 
 
Better 12
Da'Kariya Jackson got back to her scoring ways on Thursday evening as she scored 11 points on 5-11 shooting against Lindenwood. The game marked the fifth game of the season with a three-pointer from Jackson. She also hauled in a season-high four offensive rebounds in 24 minutes of action. 
 
Nice Night at the Stripe
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball had a nice night at the free throw line last night against Lindenwood. As a team, the Redhawks finished 8-9 at the stripe (88.9%) marking the second-highest percentage in a game this season. On the season, SEMO is shooting 72.5-percent at the line and are averaging 14.7 made free throws per game. 
 
Lowest Turnovers
The Redhawks did an excellent job of taking care of the basketball against Lindenwood on Thursday night. After averaging 22 turnovers per game over the last three games, SEMO had their lowest turnover number of the season with only nine. SEMO surpassed their previous low of 11 turnovers against Tennessee Tech (12/18) earlier this season. 
 
Eyeing 200 
Raissa Nsabua is closing in on a career milestone in her final season of Division I basketball. Nsabua enters Saturday's contest versus SIUE with 164 career assists as she needs just 36 more to reach 200 assists for her career. Nsabua previously had her career high in assists against Missouri State (11/11) earlier this season. 
 
Over 200
With her 12 points last night, Carmen Taylor eclipsed the 200-point mark in her first season of Division I basketball. Taylor has 203 points this season and is leading the Redhawks with 12.7 PPG. She has 13 more points than Lexi McCully who follows closely behind with 190 total points in 2025-26. McCully needs just 10 more points this season to join her backcourt mate.
