SEMOÂ soccer hosts its first OVC game of the season Thursday when the Little Rock Trojans come into Houck Field for a 6 p.m. match. On Sunday, the squad will travel to Indiana to battle with Southern Indiana at 1 p.m.
Series History
Little Rock
This will be the eighth matchup between the Redhawks and the Trojans, in which SEMO has never suffered a loss against Little Rock. The last two matchups have resulted in a tie when the two teams drew 0-0 last season and 1-1 in 2023. The first matchup goes back to 1999 when the Redhawks took home a 1-0 victory in double overtime. 2022 was the last win for SEMO when it won 2-1 in Little Rock.Â
Southern Indiana
It will be the fourth matchup between SEMO and USI. Similar to Little Rock each of the last two matchups have been draws with a 1-1 draw last season in Cape Girardeau and a 0-0 draw in 2023. The lone win in this matchup came in 2022 when SEMO took down the Screaming Eagles 1-0.Â
Last week
The Redhawks played two games last week, which started by traveling to No. 23 ranked Xavier University. Xavier controlled the game from the start scoring three goals in each half including the opener in the 4
th minute. For SEMO the team was limited to two shots on goal from
Laia Amat and
Carson Bohnenstiehl. In net
Madison Geisler made 15 saves.Â
Last Sunday, SEMO opened up OVC play with a tough 1-0 loss at the reigning OVC champion Lindenwood. After a deadlock 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes, the Lions scored the deciding goal in the 63
rd minute. The Lions outshot the Redhawks 22-9 as well as 10-3 on goal.

First Start
In the Lindenwood match, freshman
Holly Rimmer got her first collegiate start. It was her second appearance as she played 21 minutes against Murray State. Playing the full 90, Rimmer made nine saves. On the season she has stopped 12 of 14 shots on goal which adds up to a .857 save percentage while also facing 31 total shots.Â
Scouting Little Rock
Little Rock comes into the contest with a 2-3-3 record after drawing their last two matches, including a draw against Tennessee Tech in their OVC opener. As a team the Trojans are averaging 2.25 goals per game and 16.1 shots per game. On the other hand, they are letting up two goals per game on 12.3 shots. The leading scorer is Maria Schuller who has six goals and three assists totaling 15 points. Her six goals have come on nine shots on goal. Amaya Arias and Maggie Turner have each scored four goals.Â
Scouting Southern Indiana
USI comes enters the week with a 3-5-2 record with their last loss coming on August 28. In their last five games the Screaming Eagles are 3-0-2 including a 0-0 draw against UT Martin in the OVC opener. As a team, USI is averaging 1.40 goals per game on 12.4 shots per game, while allowing 1.90 goals per game on 13.3 shots. Their leading scorer is Emerson Grafton who has three goals and seven points in the first 10 games. Their goalkeeper Anna Markland gas four clean sheets, allowing just 1.59 goals per game.Â
