SEMO Soccer hosts UT Martin for a later 2 p.m. kickoff as it continues OVC play.Â
Fans are asked to wear pink as this will be the annual Pink Up Game. The players will be wearing pink jerseys to help raise awareness for breast cancer research.
Series History
The Redhawks lead the all-time series 13-10-7. SEMO is undefeated in the last three matches against the Skyhawks. Last season the Redhawks defeated UT Martin 2-0 on the road. In 2023 they drew 0-0 at Houck field and SEMO continued its success on the road winning 4-2 in 2022. The first matchup was in 1999 when the Redhawks took down UTM with a 3-1 win. In fact the Redhawks won the first seven matchups holding the Skyhawks to two goals in the first seven matchups.
Last week
The Redhawks continued OVC play earning their first point and result of the season. On September 25
th, the Redhawks drew 1-1 with Little Rock.
Hayley Hogenmiller scored her first goal in a Redhawk uniform putting a header past the Trojan goaltender.
Rachel Kretzer and
Emma Cloud picked up the assists on the goal. After entering the game in goal due to injury,
Madison Geisler made seven saves without allowing a goal in 66 minutes.Â
SEMO also traveled to Southern Indiana last Sunday. After falling down 1-0, the Redhawks battled back to draw even when Hogenmiller scored her second goal of the week on a strike from outside the box.
Carson Bohnenstiehl and
Emily Baker picked up the assists. The Screaming Eagles would add a second goal in the 79
th minute on their second converted penalty kick of the match.Â
Finding Her Groove
Hayley Hogenmiller found the back of the net for her first two goals in the last two games. These were her first two collegiate goals. In the past five games she has five points as she had an assist against Kansas City on September 14. Hogenmiller will look to continue the hot streak as OVC play continues.Â
Geisler Strong in Goal
Madison Geisler made 12 saves in the last two games, while only allowing two goals, both on penalty kicks. On the season, in seven games, Geisler has made 55 saves and 7.86 saves per game which tops all OVC goaltenders.Â
Scouting the Skyhawks
UT Martin comes into the match with a 1-5-6 overall record and 1-1-1 conference record. As a team they have scored only six goals but halve only allowed nine in 12 games. This Season UTM has five 0-0 draws. The Skyhawks leading scorer is Peyton Cook who has two goals and two assists on the season. Anna Ostergaard Ibsen also has found the back of the net twice.Â
