Women's Basketball Signs Two More Freshmen for 2024-25

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Head Coach Briley Palmer has announced two more additional signings to her 2024 freshman class, the first-year head coach announced on Wednesday morning.
Guards Jariyah Williamson and Alex McGarrah will join the Redhawks this fall, along with center Ainaya Williams & fellow guard Zoe Best to make up the incoming freshman class for Coach Palmer.
Jariyah Williamson
Jariyah Williamson comes to Cape Girardeau by way of Henderson, Tennessee and graduated from Chester County High School (CCHS) in 2024. She played all four years for Head Coach Lee Pipkin and was a four-year letterwinner.
Her senior season, Williamson averaged 20 points-per-game, 7.2 rebounds-per-game, and 3.6 steals-per-game in the back court en route to guiding CCHS to the State Tournament.
From the field, Williamson shot an impressive 48.6-percent during her senior season, including 70-percent from the free throw line.
Williamson was a standout soccer player as well, making the starting lineup every year that she played.
The daughter of Jusino Prather and Melissa Williamson, Jariyah finished high school with a 3.4 GPA, picking up her high school's academic award. She intends to major in physical therapy or business at Southeast.
Alex McGarrah
Guard Alex McGarrah will make her way to Cape Girardeau from Owasso, Oklahoma after graduating from Owasso High School in 2024.
McGarrah was a three-year letterwinner and a two-year starter for Head Coach Kendall Woodward and the Rams.
Over her career, McGarrah finished with 733 points. During her senior season, McGarrah averaged 10.4 points, 2.8 assists, 3.2 steals, 2.8 rebounds, and averaged less than one turnover per game en route to garnering Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association 6A Large East All-State Honors.
She shot 34-percent from the field and was a near 80-percent foul shot shooter during her final year at Owasso (77-percent).
This past season, McGarrah was selected to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Large East All-Star Team. She was honorable mention to The Oklahoman Newspaper All-State team, Tulsa World All-World Girls Best Basketball Players in the Tulsa Area and the State of Oklahoma and was named the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year by Tulsa high school coaches.
McGarrah helped guide the Lady Rams to the 6A State Semifinal and was named to the 6A State Championship All-Tournament Second Team.
In addition to basketball, McGarrah played fast pitch softball where she was a four-year letter winner at Owasso.
The daughter of Jimmie and Valerie McGarrah, Alex intends to study Sport Management at Southeast.
