CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Terrico Garrett,
Laila Hardin, and
Marcus Gordon Jr. all claimed OVC Weekley Awards for their performances this past weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite.
Garrett notched OVC Male Track Athlete of the week for the first time this outdoor season. The graduate placed first in the 800m ahead of 105 other athletes. The new PR time of 1:48.94 ranks 84th in the NCAA, first in the OVC and second in SEMO records. Garrett also ran a leg in 4x400 where his team placed seventh (3:13).
Hardin tabbed Ohio Valley Female Track Athlete of the Week Honors for her performances in the 100m and 400m hurdles. The Tennessee native crossed the line at 12.59 for a new personal best in the 100m. Her 400m hurdle time of 59.41 (3rd) ranks 79th in the nation, first in the OVC, and third in the SEMO record books.
Gordon claimed freshman of the week honors for the first time for his performance in the 400m hurdles. His time of 54.81 (19th) was better than 25 other athletes. This time was a new personal record and ranks eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference.
