Ojutkangas Named 2024 OVC Female Athlete of Year

MARTIN, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri Cross Country's Nova Ojutkangas was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Ojutkangas, in her first season as a Redhawk, is a redshirt sophomore from Lannion, France. She finished first for the SEMO women in every race this season and has been named OVC Female Runner of the Week every week she has competed.
The redshirt sophomore is just the fifth female in SEMO cross country history to be named Ohio Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Year. Hannah Eastman won the award last year for the Redhawks as well.
Ojutkangas is now the SEMO 6k record holder after breaking the school's 6000-meter record at the Angel Mounds Invitational with a time of 20:31.3 which was faster than 159 other athletes.
The french native, finished first place in every race but one, Redhawk Invitational (5k, 17:50.103, 1st), UT Martin XC OVC Preview (6k, 21:17.5, 1st), Gans Creek Invitational (6k, 21:04.1, 50th), and Angel Mounds Invitational (1st).
The Redhawks will compete tomorrow in the OVC cross country championship at the Skyhawk Running trail starting with the women's race at 9:00 a.m., CT and the men's race at 10:00 a.m CT.
