CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball announced Wednesday its non-conference slate to complete the 2022-23 schedule. The Redhawks will compete in 29 total games including 14 at the Show Me Center this upcoming campaign.
SEMO's non-conference schedule features 11 games including five home matchups ahead of the Redhawks 2022-23 Ohio Valley Conference slate.
SEMO will kick off its eighth season under head coach
Rekha Patterson, Monday, Nov. 7 against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) at the Show Me Center.
SEMO then faces Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents Ole Miss and Missouri on the road, Nov. 10 and 13, respectively.
The Redhawks take on NCAA Division II opponent LeMoyne-Owen College Friday, Nov. 18 at home before celebrating Thanksgiving at UCF's (Central Florida) Tournament Nov. 26-27 in Orlando, Florida.
SEMO will compete against Rhode Island and tournament host UCF over the holiday.
Following that trip, SEMO will face NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) member Rust College Dec. 1 at the Show Me Center before heading to Lawrence, Kansas, for a road matchup at Big 12 institution Kansas Dec. 4.
The Redhawks then welcome Western Illinois to Cape Dec. 7 before a road contest at Evansville on Dec. 18.
SEMO will host Illinois-Chicago (UIC) on Tuesday, Dec. 20 to wrap up non-conference play.
The Redhawks will then play an 18-game double round-robin OVC schedule, starting at Southern Indiana on Dec. 29.
The 2022-23 campaign, which is the 75th year of competition in the OVC, marks the first in the league for Lindenwood, Little Rock, and Southern Indiana who became official members on July 1. They join Eastern Illinois, Morehead State, SEMO, SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and UT Martin to make up the 10-team league.
The 2023 OVC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament is set for March 1-4 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana. It marks the sixth year in a row that the Championships will be held at that venue.
Each OVC school is eligible to compete and win the OVC Tournament Championship, including Lindenwood and Southern Indiana, who are beginning the reclassification process to Division I. It was previously announced that should a transitioning school win an OVC Tournament Championship, the AQ shall be awarded to the tournament runner-up. Should the tournament runner-up also be a transitioning school, the AQ representative shall be the highest seed going into the tournament.
All Conference games and home non-conference contests can be seen on ESPN networks, with the majority of games broadcast on ESPN+. Additional linear exposures on ESPNU and ESPN2 will be announced at a later date.
