Taylor Leads Redhawks in Scoring for Second-Straight Game

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –Southeast Missouri (11-12, 6-6) fell to Jacksonville State (11-12, 5-7) by a score of 56-39 Saturday at the Show Me Center.
Tesia Thompson finished with 11 points, her 14th-straight double-digit scoring game. Thompson posted six points in the first quarter.
Carrie Shephard tied former Redhawk, Ashton Luttrell, for seventh in 3-point field goals made in a single-season. Shephard sank two treys to push her total to 57 this season.
SEMO outscored the Gamecocks 14-13 in the first quarter and had eight of 14 defensive rebounds in the opening 10 minutes of play.
An 8-0 run by JSU right before half extended the Gamecocks lead to 26-22 at the intermission and the Redhawks were unable to recover.
Jocelyn Taylor posted 10 points in the first half and scored 12 for the game. Taylor accounted for eight of SEMO's 14 points in the paint.
The Gamecocks went on a 6-0 run to end the third quarter and pull away from the Redhawks. SEMO was outscored 15-6 in that stanza.
