Redhawks Claw Past Tennessee State, 81-57

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –Dolapo Balogun and Tesia Thompson posted career-high performances in Southeast Missouri's (13-15, 8-9 OVC) 81-57 victory over Tennessee State (5-24, 5-12 OVC) Thursday at the Show Me Center.
Thompson tied a career-high 32-points against the Lady Tigers. She also scored 32 at Bradley on Nov. 10. Balogan scored 16 points and hit a near-perfect 4-of-5 free throws.
SEMO posted a season-best field goal percentage shooting 62.7 percent (32-of-51). The Redhawks added a season-high 33 defensive rebounds, as well.
The Redhawks scored the game's first 10 points and built a comfortable 48-18 halftime advantage.
Balogun converted a 3-point play to give SEMO its largest lead at 58-22 with just under six minutes left in the contest.
SEMO led for the entire 40 minutes and shot over 60 percent in three quarters. The Redhawks missed only twice from the field (8-of-10) in the third period.
Thompson shot 13-of-18 from the floor, drained a pair of 3-pointers and made 4-of-5 free throws. She also had three assists and three steals.
Balogun made 6-of-10 shots and grabbed four rebounds. Kennedi Allen pulled down a game-high nine boards.
SEMO man-handled TSU inside the paint, outscoring the Lady Tigers, 46-22.
Tia Wooten topped TSU with 18 points and seven rebounds. The Tigers were only 1-of-17 from 3-point range for a mere 5.9 percent.
SEMO hosts Ohio Valley Conference leader Belmont in its 2018-19 regular-season finale Saturday.
