TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –
Carrie Shephard scored a game-high 23 points and buried five 3-pointers to lead Southeast Missouri (7-3) to a 68-58 win over Indiana State (2-9) Saturday.
SEMO stormed out to a 10-0 lead with eight oi fits first 10 points belonging to Shephard. ISU also went the first 5:20 without a point.
After that, the Redhawks never looked back and carried a 33-25 advantage into halftime.
SEMO continued to pour it on and outscored the Sycamores, 20-11, in the third quarter to take a 53-38 advantage. SEMO then led by as many as 24 when
Roshala Scott converted.a 3-point play after drawing a foul on her layup in the fourth quarter.
Shephard scored 14 points in the first half alone and made five of her nine total field goals from 3-point range.
Jessie Harshberger followed with 12 points and
LaTrese Saine added six blocks. Saine tied SEMO's single-game record in blocks.
Adrian Folks topped ISU with a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds. Caitlyn Anderson, however, scored a team-high 13 points.
The Redhawks outrebounded the Sycamores, 50-41.
SEMO gave ISU its seventh loss in a row.
The Redhawks return to action when they host Harris-Stow on Dec. 29.
