CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball defeated IU Southeast 76-53 in its final exhibition game of the season.

The Redhawks big defensive fourth quarter led them to victory, allowing just six points and two field goals in the final period.

SEMO led the entire game, but IU Southeast managed to stay within striking distance the majority of the first three quarters. Southeast Missouri had just a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter before going on a 24-4 run.

Adrianna Murphy led the way again for the Redhawks filling up the box score with 23 points, seven assists, seven rebounds and eight steals.

In just her second career college basketball game, Tesia Thompson had 21 points to go along with six rebounds and five steals.

Overall, SEMO had another strong defensive performance as a team, something coach
Rekha Patterson emphasized would be key to their success this season. They held the Grenadiers to 39 percent shooting from the field, had 20 steals and five blocks as a team and won the rebound margin 46-30.

The Redhawks will open up the regular season in the Preseason WNIT at Louisville. The game is set for Nov. 10 at the KFC Yum! Center. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
