Tipping Off
Southeast Missouri women's basketball (7-9, 1-2) continues its Nashville trip Saturday against preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorites Belmont (11-5, 3-0). The Redhawks and Bruins will tip off at 5 p.m. from the Curb Event Center.

A Look at What's Ahead
The Redhawks' four-game road stretch will continue next Saturday at UT Martin. Southeast and the Skyhawks are set for a 4 p.m. tip from Martin, Tennessee. SEMO will then face SIUE on Jan. 18 in Edwardsville, Illinois. Then it's back to the Show Me Center for games against Eastern Illinois (Jan. 21) and Murray State (Jan. 25).
Series History
Saturday's game will be the 10th all-time meeting between Southeast Missouri and Belmont women's basketball. In nine games, SEMO trails the all-time series 4-5. Since Belmont joined the OVC in 2012, the Redhawks are 1-3 against the Bruins. The lone victory (81-74) came a season ago at the Show Me Center to open OVC play. SEMO has defeated Belmont once on the road: Dec. 9, 2000, 81-72. In total, Southeast is 1-3 in Nashville against the Bruins.
Scouting the Bruins
Belmont enters Saturday's matchup riding a five-game winning streak and have won nine of its last 10 games. The Bruins have opened OVC play with a perfect 3-0 record with road victories over Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay and a 71-66 home win over UT Martin most recently. Darby Maggard leads the team scoring 13.9 points per game. 110 of her 149 total shots have come from 3-point range. Her 48.1 3-point percentage and 52 made three's leads the league. Kylee Smith averages 13.1 points a game while Sally McCade drains 11.1 points a game and pulls in a team-leading 7.2 rebounds a contest. As a team, the Bruins average 74.3 points a game, second-best in the league, and average nearly nine more points a game than their opponents. Belmont also shoots a league-high 43 percent from the floor and averages 11.6 more rebounds than its opponents.
Looking Back
Southeast Missouri earned its first Ohio Valley Conference victory of the 2016-17 season with a 75-67 win over Tennessee State Thursday at the Gentry Center. Thursday's win is the first for Southeast over Tennessee State on the road since Jan. 17, 2008. Southeast trailed by two, 48-46, going into the final 10 minutes but a 29-point fourth quarter propelled the Redhawks to the conference victory. SEMO was led by a career-best 20-point performance from
Ashton Luttrull. The junior tallied career-bests with five 3-pointers and three free-throws made in the contest. Her 24 minutes also tied a career-long.
Olivia Hackmann recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Bri Mitchell was the third Redhawk in double-figure scoring with 19 points. Mitchell pulled in eight rebounds, tying a career-best. She was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. The senior dished out seven assists and played 39 minutes of the 40-minute affair. After shooting 16 percent in the first quarter, the Redhawks finished shooting 42 percent from the floor in the game. SEMO was 9-of-23 (39%) from beyond the arc and 16-of-19 (84%) from the free-throw line. SEMO's 16 made free-throws were a season-high.

A 26-point performance against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 31 gave redshirt-senior
Olivia Hackmann her 1,000th career point, making her the 17th all-time member of Southeast's 1,000-Point Club, eighth of SEMO's Division I era. Sonya Daugherty and Tarina Nixon (2005-09) were the last inducted into the club. Senior
Bri Mitchell will most likely be the next member inducted. Mitchell has 938 career points.
Taking Better Care of the Ball
Since back-to-back 20+ turnover games against Louisiana and Alcorn State, the Redhawks have improved its handling of the ball. In nine games, the Redhawks have had 13 or less turnovers in five including two games with just eight (Stephens College) and seven (Tennessee Tech) turnovers. Following the Louisiana game, Southeast averaged 4.3 more turnovers a game. Now, SEMO has worked to average 0.5 turnovers less than its opponents.
Wiping the Glass
Southeast Missouri ranks as one of the best rebounding teams in the country, ranking 12th in total rebounds with 672; however, Southeast's 42 rebounds per game ranks 54th nationally. The Redhawks had a season-high 59 rebounds against Lipscomb on Dec. 6.
Redhawks for THREE!
As a team, Southeast Missouri ranks 18th nationally in 3-point field goals made (125) and 27th in 3-point field goal percentage (.374). In the OVC, the Redhawks rank third in 3-pointers made but lead in 3-point shooting.
Hannah Noe's 44 3-pointers rank 21st in the country, second in the league. Noe has 94 career made 3-pointers, ranking her seventh in Southeast's career top-10 list. As a conference, the OVC ranks third in the country in 3-pointers made.
Help! I Need Somebody
Sophomore point guard
Adrianna Murphy is 12th in the nation with 99 assists this season. Her 6.2 assists per game ranks 24th. Murphy has had two double-digit assist performances this season including a career-high 14. Her 14-assist game is the sixth most in an NCAA game this season. Senior
Bri Mitchell recorded her first double-digit assist game against Alabama A&M with 12. As a team, the Redhawks rank 18th in the nation with 265 total assists.
