UT MartinBeginning the Final FiveSoutheast Missouri women's basketball (14-10, 7-4 OVC) will begin the final five games of the regular season as it continues its road swing Wednesday at Ohio Valley Conference leader UT Martin (16-7, 9-1 OVC). The Redhawks and Skyhawks will tip off at 6:00 p.m. from the Elam Center in Martin, Tennessee.
Follow the RedhawksWednesday's game will be broadcast live on SEMO ESPN 1220 AM. Erik Sean will provide play-by-play on the broadcast. Sean will be joined by Jess Bolen who will provide analysis. Series HistorySoutheast Missouri trails in the all-time series 29-33 (18-26 DI). On the road, the Redhawks are 12-17 in Martin, Tennessee. The Redhawks have lost 13-straight games to UT Martin including six-straight on the road. The last time Southeast beat the Skyhawks was Feb. 21, 2009 in Cape Girardeau, 58-39.
The Last MeetingSoutheast Missouri and UT Martin met in the Show Me Center on Jan. 24. The Skyhawks defeated Southeast 84-74.
Imani Johnson tallied 18 total points in the game while
Erin Bollmann put up 16 with nine rebounds. The first quarter remained close before UT Martin began to pull away from the Redhawks in the second. Southeast fell despite shooting 42.2% from the field. The Redhawks also hit 10 3-pointers in the contest, the most they had in conference play up to that point.
Let's RecapSoutheast Missouri dropped a road game to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, 64-59. A slow second half by the Redhawks allowed Eastern Illinois to erase an 11-point halftime deficit and overtake Southeast in the end. The win snapped Eastern Illinois' 21-game losing streak. The loss was Southeast's eighth-straight to Eastern Illinois in Lantz Arena.
Bri Mitchell turned in her second-straight double-figure performance with 17 total points.
Erin Bollmann finished behind Mitchell with 14 total points in the game.
Adrianna Murphy fell just short of a double-double, finishing with nine points and a team-leading nine rebounds. Murphy also led the team with five assists and five steals.
Looking at the UT Martin SkyhawksUT Martin defeated Austin Peay and SIUE last week. Head coach Kevin McMillan is seventh on the OVC's all-time win list with 136. Haley Howard has scored 20 or more points in four straight games against Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State, Murray State and Austin Peay, notching career highs with 25 points twice. Sophomore Jessy Ward scored 19 points in each game last week. She was 13-of-25 from the floor and hit nine three-pointers last week. She ranks in the top-10 in the nation in three-pointers made, three-pointers per game ad three-pointers attempted.
The Skyhawks have won 22-straight home OVC games. SIUE was the last team to defeat UT Martin in the Elam Center on Feb. 9, 2013.
Looking AheadThe Redhawks will bring the three-game road tilt to a close at Murray State on Saturday. The game between the Redhawks and Racers will begin at 5 p.m. from the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The Redhawks will return home for the final homestand on Saturday, Feb. 20 when Eastern Illinois comes to town. The Redhawks will play the final home game of the season on Feb. 24 against SIUE. That night will feature Senior Night as the Redhawks celebrate the careers of seniors
Connor King and
Erin Bollmann. The regular season will come to a close on Feb. 27 at Austin Peay.
Best Record in a Long TimeSeven Ohio Valley Conference wins this season is the most since Southeast went 10-8 in 2008-09. The Redhawks' eight home wins is also the most since the 2008-09 season. The Redhawks are on track to go to their first OVC Basketball Tournament since the 2008-09 season. The Redhawks won the regular season title and played in the WNIT the previous year in 2007-08.
Boarding SchoolSoutheast Missouri ranks eighth nationally in total rebounds this season with 1,045. The Redhawks rank 19th in the country in rebounds per game with 43.54 boards a game. Southeast is 10-5 when it outrebounds its opponents. Southeast is currently sporting a 4.8 rebounding margin. As a whole, the OVC ranks eighth among all 32 NCAA Division I conferences in total rebounds (10,730). Southeast's program record for rebounds in a season is 1,388 (2006-07).
Not Exactly Bench Warmers The Redhawks bench averages 29.6 points per game this season. Southeast's bench averages 12.3 more points per game than its opponents. The bench also outrebounds opponents by 5.3 boards a game. The Redhawks' bench shoots 41% from the field.
Imani Johnson has played a team-high 23 games off the bench, putting up nearly 10 points per game. The bench has recorded 30 or more points in 12 games this season. Southeast had a season-high 38 bench points against Murray State last Wednesday.

Adrianna Murphy is about to crack Southeast's single-season top ten list in assists. Murphy currently has 121 in her rookie season. She needs to reach 126 (Stephanie Williams, 1985-86) to crack the list. Sherry Mitchell (1990-91) holds the single-season assists record with 232. The most recent player on the list is Sara Costell (2003-04) who ranks sixth with 144.

Hackmann to RedshirtSenior guard
Olivia Hackmann will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season due to a foot injury suffered nine games into the season. Hackmann will receive a medical redshirt and will return for her senior season in 2016-17. Hackmann was averaging 16.4 points per game at the time of her injury.
