Tennessee TechBack on the RoadSoutheast Missouri (11-7, 4-1 OVC) women's basketball will open a two-game road swing Saturday at Tennessee Tech (5-13, 1-4 OVC). The Redhawks and Golden Eagles are slated to tip off at 5:30 p.m. from the Eblen Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Series HistorySoutheast Missouri trails its all-time series against Tennessee Tech, 15-28. On the road, the Redhawks are just 4-18 in Cookeville. The Redhawks defeated the Golden Eagles a season ago in the Show Me Center in an overtime thriller, 68-66. Last season's win snapped a six-game losing streak to TTU. Prior to Southeast's six-game losing streak, the Redhawks had a six-game winning streak against the Golden Eagles.
Let's RecapSoutheast Missouri improved to 6-2 in the Show Me Center Wednesday when they defeated Jacksonville State, 61-47. The win improved the Redhawks' record in Ohio Valley Conference play to 4-1.
Ashton Luttrull hit a career-best four 3-pointers en route to a team-high 16 points to lead the Redhawks to victory.
Bri Mitchell tallied 13 points in the contest; her ninth double-digit point performance in the last 10 games.
Deja Jones was the Redhawks' rebounding leader with six on the night; also tallying nine points. Southeast took good care of the ball Wednesday evening, only committing 14 turnovers; only four of which came in the second half. Southeast held the Gamecocks to a 32% shooting percentage. With the Redhawks' 11 wins, they have topped their win total from five of the last six seasons.
Looking at the Tennessee Tech Golden EaglesTennessee Tech has gone winless in the New Year, dropping four-straight OVC games. Tech's lone conference victory came in the opener against Eastern Illinois on Dec. 31, 81-74. The Golden Eagles hold an overall 5-13 record and are 4-6 in the Eblen Center this year. Most recently, Tennessee Tech fell at UT Martin, 67-53, to close a three-game road swing. Saturday's game will be TTU's first home game in two weeks. Through five conference games, Samaria Howard averages 23 points a game, which is second-best in the OVC-only games. Howard has played a league-high 37.8 minutes a game in OVC games. Howard shoots 39.5% from the floor, 27.3% from the 3-point range, and 76% from the line. She grabbed her first double-double of the season in the Golden Eagle's last contest at UT Martin (14 points, 11 boards). As a team, TTU averages 60.2 points a game but give up 70.9.
Looking AheadThe Redhawks will close their two-game road swing on Wednesday when they take on fellow OVC leader SIUE. Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network. Tip off is slated for 8 p.m. from the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. Southeast will return to the Show Me Center for three-straight games beginning Jan. 23 against the UT Martin Skyhawks.
A Spark Off the BenchSince the start of OVC play,
Ashton Luttrull has come off the bench and provided a much needed spark to the Redhawk offense. Luttrull only averages 13.8 minutes in four OVC games but puts up 11.3 points in those games. Luttrull's 59% field goal percentage ranks third in OVC-only games while her 55.6% 3-point shooting is tied for first in the league. She has six steals and only three turnovers.
Stepping UpBri Mitchell has come in and has more than taken over a vacancy in the Redhawk lineup left open by
Olivia Hackmann. Mitchell ranks in the top five in league-only games with 17.2 points per game. On the season, Mitchell has 53 assists, 12 steals, shoots 40% from the field, and 77% from the free-throw line. Mitchell also averages the most minutes of all active players with 30.3 minutes per game. Mitchell has scored 10 or more points in nine of her last 10 games.

Imani Johnson averages 9.5 points in 17 games off the bench this season, earning double-digit points in nine of those games. Point guard
Adrianna Murphy at started 14 of the 18 games she's played in, averages six points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.9 steals a game. Most recently,
Corneisha Henderson has come off the bench to average 6.8 points in the last five games.

Most notable, the Redhawks rank third with a 8.0 scoring margin, second in field goal percentage (.439) and field goal percentage defense (.370), and third with a 4.0 rebounding margin.
